A-Z Challenge Day 25

They say she sat on a mountainside, alone but for her Yunlou, her cloud of gongs.

As she played, doves circled and creatures sat at her feet.  Flower buds burst open and pink petals danced the air.

It is said, her sweet music could be heard on high and a heavenly choir sang along.

Legend has it that one Summer’s morn, and an angel sat beside her playing her harp.

One by one more appeared playing pipes and lyres.

And then, the sound of music began to fade. It became distant. Quieter and quieter until it could be heard no more. She was never seen again.

No one knows how the story came about or who it was that witnessed the celestial gathering.

But I believe it. I truly do.  And I know that should I be granted a place in Paradise, I will find her there. I will hear her play.

I  will,  I know.

Thought to be from the 14th century the Yunlou, the Cloud of Gongs, originally comprised five gongs in a wooden frame and was used mainly at court ceremonies. Later it grew and had eleven to seventeen gongs and was played at rituals, weddings and funerals.

Great job writing a legend — and the graphics are really clever.

Like the rose petals at the end of the story, the sweet scent of this tale will linger on. Beautifully told Keith.

What a beautiful story, Keith! I can feel this is in my heart. I am getting so nostalgic for all the A-Z reads now. What am I going to do next month? Maybe get caught up on all the ones I missed? Feeling so much nostalgia in the ones I’ve read so far today!

I can’t thank you enough, I’m so pleased you enjoyed it.

May always feels a bit empty, so I might do exactly the same as you!

How soothing to imagine a gathering of angels playing musical instruments, with doves at their feet and a heavenly choir singing along.
