Short stories featuring musical instruments and those who play them!
.
I bumped into Eustace the other day.
Oh dear, I hope you didn’t hurt yourself!
Not literally you plonker, I encountered him!
Only joking, how’s he doing?
Fine. Did you know he’s a band?
No, what does he play?
He did tell me but I can’t remember.
Does he blow it or bash it or strum it?
I’m not sure but I think it begins with U.
Ukelele?
No, I’d have remembered that.
Uilleann Pipes?
What?
They’re bellow-blown bagpipes with a conical chanter which have two octave ranges that …
Stop! No.
Utogardon?
Eh? No.
Umakweyana?
Now you’re making words up!
Actually it’s a one-string gourd instrument played by girls.
He’s a bloke!
True!
Ooh, think, think, think. Ah, you phone im …
I don’t have his number.
No dumbo, the name of the instrument sounds like … you, phone, imunimunimun!
You mean euphonium, don’t you?
That’s it! I was right, it begins with U!
It begins with E! Duh!
Really?
Yes!
Oh, I saw Harry yesterday, he’s got a new hobby.
Really, what is it?
It begins with P, I think …

Our first dog was named Eustace. It was after a character from It’s a Wonderful Life. He didn’t play any instruments though – U or otherwise. Weekends In Maine

What a lovely name for a dog! My dog used to like those chewy squeaky things, that was almost music!

Now you’re just showing off, aren’t you Keith? All those musical instruments–only U know about. Impressive, for sure.
Cheers for the laughs. Have a great Sunday.
