for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt where the given word is Fabric and the word limit 131.
I found my friend Rosey sitting on a bench in the park, stabbing a piece of fabric with a needle and a tangled web of brightly coloured thread.
I asked if she was mending something. She frowned and said no, she was being creative; expressing herself through the medium of needlework.
It was… interesting. Apparently, it was an embroidery depicting a pastoral scene of fields and flowers.
“It’s, err, beautiful,” I said, as I tried to work out which way up it was!
I asked what the red blobs were.
“Poppies of course,” she said.
“Are they?” I said.
“OK, if you must know I keep pricking my finger with this needle and they’re bloodstains. But they look like poppies, don’t they?”
I left her to get on with her masterpiece!

Must be quite a painful work of creativity for Rosey, is it not?

She makes hard work of everything!

She needs a beginner kit. Or maybe she could crochet, the hooks don’t usually draw blood.

I’ll suggest it, though I think she’s probably dumped it and started a new project by now!

Dear Keith,
Rosey’s certainly good at entertaining us through your stories. 😉 Cute story…cute subject.

You could say Rosey and I are kindred spirits at sewing. Here’s mine. https://rochellewisoff.com/2020/04/26/weekend-writing-prompt-fabric/

Well done! Alas for Rosey, though: she’ll have a double woe from this craft. Her poppies are going to look rather impressionist if she ever washes the fabric.

Oh poor Rosey… gotta give her an A for effort.
As for that smiling Rosey meme? Kinda has a “Joker” smile quality to it!!
