Something a little different today

Today’s old K words are:-

ccKillock – an anchor

Kopje – a hillock

Kitchin – a small child

Keith – the old fella that writes these stories!

Beside the harbour wall stood the captain,  his precious wife’s hand held in his.  Heavy with child she was,  with just weeks more to go.

‘Take care, my love.  When I return we will be a family’.

‘When will that be?’ she asked.

‘Soon my love, soon’.

He climbed aboard the schooner.

‘Boatswain, weigh the killock and set sail’  he commanded.

She watched as the vessel left the harbour.  Still, she stood until it met the horizon and faded into the setting sun.

Atop a kopje overlooking the ocean sits a woman.  She visits there most days.

‘When will I meet my father?’  begs her kitchin looking deep into her eyes.

‘Soon child, soon’  she replies wiping a tear from her cheek.

A different feel from your usual stories, Keith. Very melancholic.

Oh, this is sad. I got used to your funny stories. Hope the man sails back. Short, crisp, and beautiful.

I wonder if he was a whaler setting off from Nantucket years ago? Sad story, but good use of the new words!

The first time I see a sad little tale here. Since Keith didn’t appear in your story… I hope Keith is good and safe. Take care!

A very tender tale, one told often with sailors and the ones they leave behind. 😦

The silent suffering that a mother goes through just so that the child doesn’t know pain.
    Waiting…
    Well written!

I hope that they will be reunited soon. I was able to guess all 4 of them. But that last word isn’t really that forgotten, especially since the writer is very active. 😀
