for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt.

.
I’m leaving this miserable flat. Too many bad memories.
She left me the cat for company when she walked out. At least it doesn’t constantly argue and keep telling me I’m boring.
She blamed our separtion on me.
“It’s your fault my friends no longer want to see me, it’s your fault we have no social life”.
I’ve found myself a new job, I hated the last one. My work colleagues threw a leaving party. They held it after I left.
Time to load the van. Where’s that cat?
“Jaspurr, Jaspurr…”
“Let meow!”
“How did you get in that box?”
.
Prod the frog to see the squares!.

Nice response tot he prompt. So typical of a cat! In 1916 when DH’s grandparents moved their family from MB to SK, their belongings travelled several days in a boxcar. They unloaded, set the old wood-burning range in place and opened the oven door. Out came one of their cats!

They do indeed. There’s truth to that old saying, “Curiosity killed the cat.”

He’s taking the cat along though- her gift and some part of her!
Smart cat- knew where to go lest it should be left behind! Time to move 🙂

Absolutely, a cat for company! Thanks for dropping by, Anita.

Sounds like he is making a new start. Cats do seem to like boxes. Great story Keith, endings are never easy.

Jaspurr!! Cute. And he talks! Let’s hope your MC’s social life improves in his new neighbourhood. I’m smiling at the leaving party he wasn’t invited to. Lots to read between the lines there.

I was not too sympathetic towards this guy, but at least he likes cats.

I’m not sure the cat likes him! Cheers, James.

Atleast the cat is sticking around. That’s good news. It can be a fresh start for him.

Indeed, but I’m not sure it wants to be transported in a box!

He seems like a sad sort, but maybe without her he’ll have a fresh start. They don’t seem compatible. I love the line, “Let Meow.” Very clever tale, Keith!

Thanks so much Brenda!
He urgently needs to learn ‘how to win friends and influence people’ – maybe start by buying that very book!

Love the timing of the leaving party – it speaks a million words.
(I’ve seen that cat recently, also in a box.)

Dear Keith,
That says a lot about him if his coworkers threw his going away party AFTER he left. LOL. Good one.

She doesn’t sound like a very pleasant person. I say ‘good riddance!’ You’ll be fine with Jaspurr who keeps his thoughts to himself. Funny line, though, about the party!
