Today, we are in Syracuse. We start in the Archaeological Park where there are the remains of temples, tombs, caves, a Roman amphitheatre and one of the largest Greek theatres in existence.

      I somehow doubt it! I live near a Roman castle which is approaching its 2000th birthday, and it is still as solid as a rock!

    Wonderful photos! The light reflection off the sky gives a vibrant feel to the photos. The image in the cave is spectacular.

      Thank you so much, Suzette. The cave was amazing, it was cool and very echoey (not sure that’s a word!) There’s nothing like enjoying a pizza in Italy!

    OH MY GOODNESS!!! ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS!!! My family’s hometown, and I just found out recently I have two cousins family’s are still there & they live right next door to each other!!! Her Mom just moved back there from Chicago (Bridgeport/Mayor Daley’s neighborhood) and she’s happy she did! OH WOW, thank you, THANK YOU for these fantastic pictures and your Post is simply marvelous… I will probably be back and be back and be back! Thank you again… you’re duh best and be safe and have fun and thank you for the pictures this is the greatest Post ever I’ve ever seen! HAPPY THANKSGIVING MY FRIEND! YOU’RE DUH BEST!!! HUGS

      What an incredible coincidence! Syracuse, old and new, was amazing, I’d happily live there! Apparently, it once rivalled Athens as the greatest city of the Greek world.

    Amazing! Seeing the size of those cave places with the little person is impressive. The town is also fascinating. Such a different life and culture and to live among all that history.

    Great photos, as always. Syracuse has such a storied history, including Greek, Roman, and Italian periods.

      It was an ‘optional tour’ and I’m so glad I decided to tag along. As I said to Marie, Syracuse once rivalled Athens as the greatest city of the Greek world. I need a pizza – now!
