For Wordless Wednesday on a Tuesday, and bloghops various!.

I recently returned from a trip across the foot of Italy on which we visited some of the lesser known towns, several of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. That was followed by four days on the island of Sicily.
I was one of 28 travellers – 25 ladies and just 3 men!
In total, I took 455 photos. Don’t worry, I’m not going to post them all! These are just a few from Day One.

Finally we visited Alberobello, a town made up of 1500 dry stone houses and shops with their conical roofs, many dating back to the 14th century.

I had no idea how lovely it would be. Having seen so much of Asia I thought it was about time I started exploring Europe!

All ready for the tourists, but didn’t have that touristy look about it.
Do you have inside information about the weather? I don’t recall you ever posting a gloomy looking sky.

I try to avoid posting pics of gloomy skies, but there will be one or two in my pictures yet to come. We actually had a rainy day!

I don’t mind if you post all the photos, Keith. ☺️ These are my kind of places to visit. Away from the more “touristy” spots. Thanks for letting us travel with you, Keith.

Outstanding! Those conical roofs are incredible; I recently watched a documentary about Italian artisans and the cone roofs were featured. Thanks for sharing these fab pix, Keith.
PS – 25/3? Not too shabby odds! 😉 😂

I’d never seen anything like them. They weren’t just in town, we saw many dotted about in vineyards and olive groves.
The gender imbalance was a bit overwhelming!

Unless there are other conical roofs, the ones I saw on the docu were made of limestone without the use of any type of bonding materials; the pieces interlocked and fit together tight as a drum. It’s an ancient process. I was very impressed.
I can imaging it must have sounded a bit like a chicken coop at times! 😂

Wow. Italy is so beautiful, and I’ve only seen some parts. You could spend your life exploring (and eating, of course).

Every place I visited was awesome! I had to look up Pirandello as I wasn’t aware of him, but just reading the reviews of his books has got me interested!

It’s such a different kind of place and culture, and so beautiful. Those “bee hive” looking buildings are super interesting. Love all the markets and things on display too. Awesome photos.

Thank you! It was different from anywhere I’d been before. Those buildings, known as trullies, were really intriguing.

Great photos and some really interesting towns. Those conical houses in Alberobello are particularly intriguing.
I wonder what it’s like to live in towns like these…

One can never take enough photographs, I go snap happy when we go out anywhere and then try to rework them once back.
Hope to see you at SSPS, as we opened up a new one for this week.
