Eighty-four words

for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt where the given word is Perpetual.

Sleeping-zzz-clipart-kid

I attended a quiz the other evening’.

One of the questions was, what’s the longest English word? Easy. I shot up my hand.

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis’ I said and I started spelling it. ‘P-n-e-u-m-o-n-o…………’. I stopped midway as people started yawning!

Next question. What does perpetual mean?

Again, I raised my hand.

“Continuous, everlasting, perennial, constant, endless, interminable, repetitious,” I said, “persistent, ongoing, nonstop…”

When people started talking among themselves I realised I was going on a bit, so I stopped, ceased, quit, ended, halted, terminated….

That is a real word? I would never remember how to spell it, let alone how to pronounce it.

Now you know why I didn’t attempt an audio! It’s not exactly a fun word as it’s a lung disease caused by inhaling very fine ash and sand dust!

An ‘interesting,’ perhaps even impressive, use of the prompt, Keith. The question might have been, what us the meaning of the initialism, TMI?
