For too long I’ve lived in her shadow, far too long.
She has always been at the centre of our relationship while I’ve looked on from the outside; unseen, ignored as if I mattered not a jot.
It’s time I manned up, walked away. She only wants me because I earn a tidy sum. She’s the one that holds the purse strings, while I’m the one that fills it, but not anymore, oh no!
So, off I go, walking into the light, even my own shadow is having to follow me now.
I really should have worn my dark glasses, the sun is extremely bright. But fear not, I’ll look upon it as a positive sign.
Actually, I can’t see much at all while squinting, I’ll cross the road to where there’s partial shade
Who’s hooting, the noisy devil? Oh no, ouch ouch ouch, some idiot driver has knocked me down, I couldn’t see him coming. Someone help me up, please!
A shadow’s approaching, a good samaritan I’m sure. Oh, I recognise it, it’s her wretched shadow.
I’m okay, darling, it’s not serious. Yes, I’ll come home. Yes, we can stop at the ATM. Yes, I can’t treat you to something for being so helpful. Yes… yes… yes… yes……….

Great take on the visual – I am torn between feeling sorry for him or on the other hand thinking he needs to grow a pair! 🙂 🙂
