Alarm clock rings
Hop out of bed
Leap in the shower
Drag on some clothes
Coffee too hot
Scald my mouth
Burn the toast
Trip over the cat
Rush out the door
Run down the road
Leap on the train
Then off again.
Fly to the office
Sit at the desk
Stare at the screen
Answer the phone
Nip out for lunch
Gobble a snack
Back to work
Start over again
Home-time at last
Stand on the train
Pushed and jostled
Then off again
Open the door
Grab the mail
Pour a drink
Collapse on the couch

Thank you, Rochelle, for hosting and Sandra Crook for sharing your photo with us.
Fan the frog to join in the fun!

Dear Keith,
What a frenetic and fun piece of writing. And, as always, I’m amazed at what you’re able to do with the frog. So much fun. I might have to steal this one from you for future use. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks so much, Rochelle. I love mucking around with the frog. He’s all yours if you promise to give him a good home!
I could feel the rush to get things done, and the continual movement in our lives. Nicely written.
That would have been me a few years back! Not now thankfully. Cheers Colline
I loved the typography at the end
Just a bit of fun! Thanks so much Neil.
Very original, from the pace, the layout to the sweating frog. Well done.
A change is as good a rest, or so they say! Thanks, Sandra
I need to wake up in time for my nap!
That about sums up me these days! Thanks
Excellent use of dramatic verbs. No wonder you and Rosey make such a good team. 🙂
Now you come to mention it…and not a spelling error in site – sorry, sight!
🙂
I need a drink!
I’ll join you! Cheers!
On that 9 to 5 treadmill, like so many of us. Enjoyed the style Keith.
Is that Dolly Parton I hear? Cheers Iain
Phew indeed … and smelly if it’s been a hot day! Great writing though – cheers Hilary
Not much fun. I did a daily rush hour commute from Eastbourne for years so I remember it well.
Hi Keith – that’s why I never wanted to commute … did so in places by car … the Lewes to E/b one was the worst … but at least I was in my own space and could get to where I wanted to get to once back here … the thought of commuting by train always appalled me … I’ll do it occasionally now as when my mother was ill in London – horrific … but needs must. Seems to be hotter today – less breeze … cheers for now – Hilary
I went to London – got a seat on the way there and invariably stood most of the way back! I hope the new aircon is working at the Congress Theatre tonight as I’m going to be there!
Hopefully they’ll have opened the doors and refreshed the place through … though I hope the seats are fixed … let us know .. via a story! Enjoy –
I thank heavens that I am retired, you reminded me that it is to hot ride the trains.
Very hot, very crowded – not much fun! Thanks Michael.
Oh, how i want off of this fast track!
Sometimes I miss working in London when that was pretty well my daily experience. Life by the seaside is very different! Cheers Mimi.
Keith, I love the way you set this up–especially that last stanza. Perfect 🙂
Delighted you enjoyed it Linda.
And so it goes… that damn wheel just keeps us going ’round and ’round!
Excellent pace. Had me out of breath
And, honestly, you are having way too much fun with fonts and frogs!
That’s life for many folk, but thankfully not me any more! Love fonts, love Froggie so the fun will continue! Cheers Dale.
Yes, you lucky you!
You do have a knack for the Froggie thing!
He’s the nearest thing I have to a pet!
That was brilliantly breathless Keith!
I got out f breath writing it!
Ah yes. Been there, done that and you captured it perfectly. But now I’m retired, so no more of that for me. Yay!
Likewise! Though now and again, I miss it!
Ooh, my weekday routine! I like the slanty words at the end 🙂 Lots of fun!
Mine too once but thankfully no more!
When commuting was my life, I enjoyed it. The rush and the jostle. And I feel that your story captured that experience completely. Although honestly, I’m glad commuting is not a daily thing for me. Very original post.
I have mixed emotions – sometimes I miss it and other times I wonder how I put up with it! Thanks Fatima
I really enjoyed the way you presented the hectic day of many people’s daily lives. Great story!
Pleased you enjoyed it Brenda, thank you.
Wore me out just reading it, lol.
Very descriptive and fits the prompt nicely.
Love your falling letters, too.
Not my normal style, so I’m pleased it seems to have worked! ThanksDawn
I got winded just reading that. Loved it! Love your falling poetry and the creative use of word position, too. The downward flow was perfect!
I had no idea how it would go down when I posted it, soI’m delighted you liked it, thank you.
Phew! Now I need a large gin! Nice, witty take on the prompt, Keith.
Me too! Ice and a slice of lime?
Phew. I’m exhausted just reading this. Time for a nap. 🙂
It did just that when I finished writing it!
A frantic description of the clockwork life of a daily commute – hell weekends I expect are just as hectic, shopping, gardening and all that jazz. fun read.
I prefer weekend hectiness myself! Cheers James
Done with the day. Relax and get ready for tomorrow.
Quite right! Cheers Abhijit
It’s called the rat race. I got tired just reading it!
Oh dear, sorry about that!!!
I liked the pace of the story and all the tidbits that make up a day. Good going on winning the race each day, Keith 🙂
What a pace! On and on it goes until you collapse at the weekend. No way to live. Well captured.
Thank goodness for the weekend! Thanks Margaret.
Well done, Keith. I could feel the stress building and then easing. I absolutely love the frog, poor little guy. 😀 — Suzanne
Thanks very much Suzanne
Very fun & original.
Thanks so much
