I like Tuesday evenings. That’s when my favourite television programme’s on! I put a log on the fire, poured myself a glass of wine and sat myself down in eager anticipation. Imagine my disappointment when it didn’t appear!
Something wasn’t right. Then it occured to me. Perhaps it wasn’t Tuesday, it must have been Wednesday. As if that wasn’t bad enough, I had a date arranged, a first date with someone I’d found on Tinder. We were meant to meet on the bench outside McDonalds where I was to treat her to a meal, I thought that might impress her.
It was six-thirty-five. I had just twenty-five minutes to get there. I could drive but it was a roundabout route. Walking would be quicker thanks to that handy footbridge over the river.
I got there five minutes late and she was nowhere to be seen. I waited and waited then gave up and strolled home.
The next evening, I sat in front of my telly looking forward to my second favourite TV show. Guess what? That didn’t appear either! Then my phone rang. A young lady said she was fed up with waiting and told me to forget it.
Oh no, it wasn’t Thursday, it was Wednesday. My Tuesday programme had been cancelled thanks to some football match!
I’ve got a date with another young lady on Friday, same place same time. That’s tomorrow, isnt it? No it’s….oh, for goodness sake, what is the matter with me!

Welcome to my world of retirement. It’s amazing that I can get the trash out on Tuesday morning. I was amazed recently when someone called me from their work office on a Saturday. What dedication. Hours later I realized it was Friday.
There was a time when my alarm went off I thought, but today is Saturday. I then realized it was still Thursday 🤭
It happens more than I care to admit!
It’s so easy to forget what day it is. It’s called retiring! 😉
In retirement each day has the same weight.
