My friend Rosey’s too trusting, gullible even, her friends enjoy nothing more than telling her silly things knowing she’ll believe them, but in a nice way of course!
She recently purchased a sat-nav for her car because she got fed up with getting lost, and even that’s in on the act.
The other day, when it said to turn right she turned right, then when it said turn left she turned … you’ve guessed, right, typical Rosey!
She said it seemed annoyed and in a grumpy voice, it said ‘recalculating route’ then it took her on a lengthy detour, this way and that, up a hill, down a dirt track, round an oak tree, and left at an anthill!
She got completely stuck in some mud and she assures me it actually laughed, so she trudged her way back to the road and walked a while before calling me, begging for a lift.
So please, if you come across a pink and grey Smart car among some trees let me know because she can’t find it and neither can I!
Thanks to Denise at GirlieOnTheEdge for hosting.

Awww, poor Rosey, i hope you find her car before the police impound it.
Our old Garmin satnav was such a diva we named her Carmen!
I use a Garmin, and what I call her isn’t nearly as polite!
Those things…called G.P.S. around here. …can be so temperamental
They can and I’m sure they enjoy playing tricks especially when they tell you ‘turn around at the first opportunity’!
I often don’t do exactly as they say for exactly that reason
I can’t keep left and right straight either. I like it when that GPS voice laughed.
I remember as a school kid having to march in the playground and when the teacher shouted left right left right, I always went right left right left!
What a hoot, Keith. When my wife and I were driving around England on holidays some years ago, we dubbed our GPS ‘Sally Satnav’. She worked fine until we hit those roundabouts with six or more exits. 😉
Nice name! Mine always tells me which exit I need far too late, I’ve complained but she takes no notice!
I’m hearing you. 🙂
I feel for you Rosie!
The horror stories of GPS, lol Give me a map (hopefully a current one, lol) any day! While I do sometimes use GPS, I do so with caution 😉 .
Fun one, Keith.
They are something of a necessary evil. However, I’m told those good ‘ole road maps are enjoying a bit of a comeback!
🙂
Thanks, Romi!
Oh hilarious! Love the animation of Rosie winking.
Hope that car turns up.
Thanks so much, Suzette. I’m not sure many visitors notice Rosey’s cheeky wink!
Lol, indeed.😊
Tut tut. Too bad that everyone wants to trick Rosey!
I know, but if they stopped she’d think they didn’t love her anymore!
Aww, so sweet.
Delightful tale, though not for poor Rosie. And your graphics add quite a nice splash.
Don’t worry, she’s found it now! I often get more pleasure from creating the graphic than I do from writing my story!
I believe that. 🙂
I hope she’s uninstalled her sat-nav. A fellow told us the GPS lady kept saying “Move into the right lane.” Well, there was no right lane; they’d have been driving in the ditch. Give me a good map any day.
We drive on the left here so if mine said that I could have a problem!
Lovely illustration, other than the entertaining story!
Thanks, Reena, I’m so pleased you liked them!
Hi Keith – great story related to a pink beetle … fun – poor Rosey, or rather poor you having to find and rescue her! Cheers Hilary
When you have a friend like her it goes with the territory! Thanks, Hilary.
Shame for poor Rosie!
Further evidence of my ‘luddite-ery’ is that I have never used GPS.
There’s no shame in that! You can’t beat a paper map!
Agreed! Even if they do make steering a bit tricky.
True!
As soon as I saw ‘Rosey’, I smiled! I love the Rosey stories and this one is no exception. The GPS with a mind of its own. Oh wait, don’t they all have? ;P) I love that it sounded as though it was laughing at her. A fun story, but one that sums up how most of us feel about GPS, Keith.
Rosey will be so pleased, as am I!. Thank you, Jenne. I think we all have a love/hate relationship with those things!
My friend Emmy sometimes gets irritated by Jean-Jaques’ (her GPS) voice so deliberately ignores his directions just to stress him! She sees a strange logic in this, and I’m too feart to argue! Tell Rosey I’m happy to see her here again.
I find there’s little point in arguing with mine. She actually does well when I’m driving in France which is a little surprising considering how difficult she can be locally!. Pucker up, Rosey’s sending you a kiss!
I’m with the others, love your Rosey stories.
I try to avoid using the GPS in my car for fear of it doing to my sense of direction (actually quite good) what calculators did to my sense of math,
Thanks, Clark. I prefer to use an abacus and maps myself, far more reliable!
Good one Keith 😁 Please thank Rosey for the wink, and tell her I hope she gets her car back and can find some nice paper maps.
Update: she and her car have been reunited and it’s at the carwash right now! The last time she used a paper map she had it upside down, so I’m not sure one would help!
Lol, upside down maps – forgot about that! Glad Rosey and vehicle are reunited 😊
At least Rosey found her way back to the road to call for help, and didn’t just sit in the car waiting for it to arrive!
Fun story, Keith!
She probably considered it! Cheers Tom
oh hilarious to read about Rosie again. I still drink from her cup. That is cleverly done that winking photo
Trials of using a GPS. Hopefully y’all find her car.
Had to smile at this Six! That voice, so peeved and disappointed when we miss a turn, and force a recalculation. It is still quite useful to read maps.
Love reading your posts, makes me chuckle always
So funny!
Maybe Rosey’s got her eye on you?
