A tiny tale …

for Friday Fictioneers

.

.

Millie and Billy are best friends and love playing together. They are fearless too. Billy likes spinning around until he’s dizzy and Millie once ate a sprout! Yuc!

Yesterday they played creepy-crawly-dare. Billy dared Millie to pick up a wiggly worm and Millie dared Billy to prod a grasshopper. She let a caterpillar walk up her arm, and he sat a slimy slug on his nose!

Millie told Billy to shut his eyes and open his hand. She put a hairy spider in his palm then told him to look. Billy screamed and ran away. It seems he’s not so fearless after all!

I do hope that the spider survived, … And that Billy is not scarred for life…

Spiders seem to manage to look after themselves pretty well, at least they do in my home! I’m sure Billy’s okay Michael. Cheers.

I don’t blame Billy at all! I would have ran away too. Spiders are the limit! Good one, Keith.

    Dear Keith,

Millie and Billy sound like kids who can entertain themselves for hours on end. Adorable story.

What a fun story. And so accurate in its depiction of kids and creepy crawlies! I bought a card yesterday that said, ‘A person who says ‘Out of sight, out of mind’ has obviously never lost a spider in the bedroom! I guess Billy would agree.

Such fun! I’d have screamed, too, and I learned to like spiders. These two feel very real. Brings up memories…

What a cute story! Nicely done. I think Billy’s reaction was normal. Anything else would’ve been on the strange side. 🙂

A lovely story about for children with a reminder that even boys can be afraid of the little things. His sister, Milly is certainly not made of sugar and spice.

Lovely story, Keith. You caught the dynamic between the children perfectly. Delightful, gentle humour.

That brought a smile. I’d laugh, but it would hurt too much.

They are the best kind of playmates, having innocent fun and exploring their world together. Fun illustrations also.

    Keith,

Yikes! I’d run away too! I love the way you told this story from a child’s perspective when “daring” one’s playmates and grossing one another other out was somehow the height of happiness! Not to mention scaring each other silly.

Oh yes – the dares of childhood! I would avoid these games at all costs, as my “limit” was pretty short. 😉
