A short story …

for Friday Fictioneers

BG‘I know what Keith’s getting you for your birthday’ said Polly.

‘What?’ asked my friend Rosey.

‘Can’t say’

‘A clue?’

‘Begins with B’

‘Booze,  botox,  boob-job?’

‘No’

‘Another clue?’

‘Ends N’

‘I know, a witches broom so I can fly!  No that ends M.  Oh, a balloon ….’

‘Stop!’ interrupted Polly.  ‘Me and my big mouth.  Bye Rosey’.

Rosey was so excited.  She’d always wanted a hot-air balloon ride.  She dug out her passport in case it was windy and they blew to France!

Rosey’s birthday.  A box arrived.  My present.  She opened it and out floated a big balloon.

Sorry, Rosey!

ronda-povThanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Ronda Del Boccio for the photo.

Burst Froggie’s balloon to see what others have been up to!

Knowing Rosey, this was the safer present to get her. One wonders what mishap would occur if she was in a hot air balloon!

    Dear Keith,

From what you’ve told us about Rosey, I’m thinking the balloon you got her was a better option. 😉 Cute story.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

I certainly wouldn’t want to be a fellow passenger on a balloon flight with her! Thanks, Rochelle.

Maybe next year’s birthday… I like her thinking she needs her passport in case the balloon floats to France. Rosy thinks big. Sheer delight in the dialogue and an inventive story for the picture, Keith.

    Poor Rosey …
Then again, she might just have to take matters into her own hands …

Aw, I feel sorry for poor Rosey. I hope she gets her balloon ride one day! Though, knowing Rosey, that might be a recipe for disaster.

That’s what happens when big mouths give too much away. It creates unreasonable expectations!
Poor Rosey – though, we are all safer this way, methinks.

Will she laugh at the joke, or pop him in the nose? Cute story, Keith.

Poor Rosey! I’m sure she would have stood very still in the basket and not rushed from side to side exclaiming at how high they were already…er, alright, perhaps she’d have moved just a teensy bit!
    Cute story, Keith!

Eeeep! That’s the thing about expectations and also with imagination! You don’t usually get what you expect

A sort of deflated surprise for Rosey. Her possible trip to France was scuppered, perhaps she needs a break.

I’m responding to ‘Obdurate’ — like the obdurate energy of your illustration ,especially the final phrase, man’s right to leave the toilet seat up !!!
