My neglected O words are:-
Oratory, A small chapel for private prayer
Orison, a short prayer
Oblation, an offering made during worship
If you have followed my blog over the last 14 years, you’ll be familiar with My Friend Rosey who puts in regular appearances. Well, she’s back!

The church school at which my friend Rosey works has a little oratory. She pops in now and again and mutters an orison like the good Catholic girl she is. But try as she may she can never remember the route her hand should take when making the sign of the cross! She asked the priest for some advice on how to remember it the other day.
Quoting Austin Powers he said, “Spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch” with his arm flying hither and thither!
“That’s alright for you,” Rosey said, her cheeks blushing, “But I don’t have … erm… err … a watch!”

She recently suggested the priest ditch the boring communion wine at his church and offer instead a choice of Chardonnay or Beaujolais to attract more worshippers!
“To be honest I’d rather have a beer,” he said “but I have to do what the good book says”
“I read a good book last week,” Rosey said. “I wonder if it was the same one”

I was in church with her once and when the oblation plate came in her direction, she didn’t have any loose change, so she popped in a five-pound note then took back three one pound coins and a fifty pence piece!
That led to another of her suggestions. Collection plates should have contactless credit card readers attached!

Yesterday in the pub she pressed her hands together and said grace when the food arrived … but that’s another story for another day!

About 70 of my stories about her are on a dedicated site simply known as My Friend Rosey and it’s right HERE!

I think the priest must be amused by her suggestions, seeing how up to date her was.
They have always got on well together! Cheers Sadje.
Thanks 😊
Tell Rosey not to worry so much about the direction, The Good Lord knows what she means!
I’m sure He makes allowances for Rosey!
I do enjoy Rosie stories. Such a lively young lady.
She’s fun to write about! Thanks Jade
You’re welcome.
Hi Keith – Rosey certainly just does her thing and I’m sure she can direct her arms to do her bidding … love the Austin Powers quote. She also has some clever ideas – take care … Hilary
Oh, she’s not just a pretty fave! Thanks Hilary.
Funny! 😀
The Multicolored Diary
Thank you!
I like her suggestion of a credit card reader. No contact paywave I hope! Good on Rosey.
She does have the occasional good idea! Cheers Suzy,
Rosey seems a great person to know. She’s got good ideas. 😉
Hoping over to check her previous stories.
Not all her idea are good which you’ll discover if you delve deeper! Thanks Srivalli
The smiling girl gif right at the beginning of the post, made me chuckle probably because I could see what would follow in the post when it’s about Rosey!
I loved her practical suggestion to have a contactless card reader. The good book should be amended to include the new technological advances.
And now I am curious to find out what happened next after the food arrived.
Thanks so much Anaghu. I’m curious too, maybe I’ll come up with something in the near future!
Good to see Rosey again!! And she is still the same! Love the way she thinks 😀
…and she’ll stay the same, I’ll make sure of that! Thanks, Shilpa
For a split second I thought I had lost it when I saw Rosey’s lips move—must be the result of all these long hours of looking at my laptop screen.
Or had I accidentally tumbled into Hogwarts through the screen portal!
Austin Powers saves the day once again. Phew! I’m back where I belong.
Cheers Keith. This was a fun ride.
Her moving mouth is a bit weird, but when you’ve known her as long as I have you get used to it! Oh behave!
Keith I enjoy your Rosey stories they are personal and vivid.
My olfactory system is not working because of oleander blossoms.
Cheers

Tee hee….Rosey is someone I’d like to know! She is a character! Cheers! This was fun!
She’s great fun, kept me smiling for many years!
These Rosey stories are absolutely funny and have a touch of innocent charm to them. Another great addition to the collection.
Chuffed you liked them Varad. If I’m stuck for an idea, I just think Rosey and a story appears
Fourteen years is a rosey good time! Smart girl. I would certainly like to follow her around!
Best to keep a reasonable distance, she can be a bit accident prone! Cheers Sonia
Haha! I love her tales. She is absolutely hilarious! 😀 I got two of them correct today. Sorry I haven’t dropped by, Keith. But I plan to catch up today. 🙂
Well done, and I’m really pleased you enjoy her adventures! Thanks so much, Shweta

Typical of Rosey to give people a fright!
Rosey seems delightful…
That she is! Cheers.
When she eventually passes away, can you imagine the discussion at St Peter’s Gate? 🙂
I’d like to listen in! Cheers Stu
Awesome story 😀 I knew two of the words today, but hadn’t heard of Orison before.
