Silence falls as the auditorium lights dim.
Violins screech a chilling tune as a winter-clad bard stands before the curtain and unfurls a parchment scroll.
![]()
“Let’s bid farewell
to the season of chill”.
The fiddles fall silent. He sheds his cloak as the curtain glows gold. He continues.

“Blossom petals fall
like pink confetti
on a yellow carpet
of nodding cowslips.
Bluebells chime
and primroses smile.
A new sound echoes
at day’s dawn
A choir of songbirds
sing their song.
An overture to
the opera of spring.

Let the first act begin!”
The curtains swing open and the chorus bursts into life. Spring has begun.

Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Dale for the photo.

Dear Keith,
Very clever way to share a verse about spring. Imaginative and fun, as is your floral froggie. 😀
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks, Rochelle. Verse is not really my thing, so I thought that by wrapping it in a story I might just get away with it!
Yes, liked your unusual take on the photo prompt, Keith.

I’m pleased! Thanks, Susan
Wonderful stage setting!
Thanks so much, Sadje.
You’re welcome Keith
Lovely… the stage is set for spring (I say this as they call for another friggen 6-8 inches of snow in the next few days)
All we are predicted to get is rain, rain and more rain.
Ugh. Calling for snow but it is rain that is falling now.
Poetry, Keith?
Next thing you and Rosey will be cha-cha-ing across our screens!
Oh, Gawd! I hope not, and not just for your sake – mine too!
This is a Story I enjoyed and a show I would like to see.
I can’t ask for a nicer compliment than that! Thanks, Mike.
When winter is here, can spring be far behind?
What a way to usher in the spring & so much cheer! 🙂
That’s nice! Thanks so much Anita
What a picturesque setting you have created for spring. Compliments!
Thanks so much Reena.
The curtains are still closed here, or at least there is still far more snow on the ground than flowers… Great way to open spring!
No snow here so far (crosses fingers!) Cheers Trent.
Thank goodness, I’m done with this winter weather! 🙂
You and me too!
I adore your “performance” here and love the props <3
I’m pleased! Thanks so much
You’re very welcome.
The stage is set, and many of the performers are warming up as we speak!
Exciting, isn’t it!
Froggie needs a slightly bigger podium if he is aiming to hide behind one … 😉
Here’s to spring.
Ode to spring!
Spring – bring it on!
Yeah … (though in truth it is a big early for it … that climate change thing …. ’tis real …)
you’re especially creative this week. well done. 🙂
Nice of you to say so plaridel, thank you.
Very creative turning the prompt into acts of seasons. Makes me yearn for the spring weather.
Not long now, hopefully! Thanks Tannille.
A wonderful way to herald Spring’s arrival. I can’t wait
Thank you – nor me!
Wonderful!
Though at first I misread your title as “Farewell to the season of chilli” and had a mild panic attack.
That would never do! Cheers draliman
You brought the Universe right in! 🌻🌼🌷⚘
Thanks so much for dropping by,

Your story left me smiling and with a warm glow. Clever idea to frame the poem as a stage production.
Thanks so much Penny
I can barely wait for that wonderful spring.
Not long now! Cheers Bjorn
Keith, you’ve gone poetic on us! A lovely ode to spring, and I can’t wait. Only a few more weeks, maybe three, here in my corner of PA 🙂

Great opening to the play. – As the audience sit in their winter coats – out with the chill and in with spring – love it.
That’s much appreciated James, thank you.
Spring is almost here, ’tis true!
‘deed it is! Cheers Liz.
