Personal issues prevented me from writing and posting tales over the past few weeks, but I’m back! Here goes…..

Reflecting on the past. Thinking of what might have been, what could have been, what should have been.
Time had blurred the pictures in her mind. Images once vivid were vague, memories once deep, shallow.
Then a glance in a mirror showed another view, the reverse of what she’d seen in her mind. Happy memories, long forgotten, came back into view. Positive deeds, once buried, reappeared.
If only she had looked before.

Friday Fictioneers is hosted by Rochelle and this weeks photo is by Dawn M Miller’s grandson Nathan Sowers.

I like the poetry of this piece.
Not my usual style – I’m pleased it worked! Cheers.
Lovely piece. Good to see you back Keith, hope all is well.
All is grand! Cheers Iain
Dear Keith,
That’s the kind of mirror to have. Nicely done.

Welcome back, and an uplifting story.
Thanks Sandra – good to be back.
Sometimes we tend to look back in mostly positive or negative perspectives, and at least she was reminded once more of the happy life she had.
So true. Thanks Fatima
Nicely written. A reflection on reflections.
Tracey
Perfectly put! Thanks Tracy
wish she has never buried the positive deeds.

So true. Thanks somuch Kalpana
How fortunate that catching sight of herself in a mirror should remind her of the positive events in her life.
I’ve reached an age when I avoid looking in mirrors too often! Cheers Penny
I’ve missed your contributions, Keith. Hope all is well. This story is definitely one to set me thinking 😛
Thanks so much
Glad to have you back and with such a lovely story to boot.
That’s very kind of you Dale, thank you.
Awww! Lovely story, and it’s great to see you again.

Much appreciated, thank you.
Lyrical and a positive take on this prompt. Kudos.
Very kind of you YS, thanks so much.
We understand the situation more objectively when we look back after a few years. Well written.
Indeed we do. Thanks, Priya.
Optimistic story. Always nice to have positive memories replaying.
Hope we all discover this magic.
Wouldn’t that be nice? Cheers Anita
I like the reflective mood of your story, both poignant and positive.
That’s very kind of you, thank you WWM
Really loved this story, dear one. If only, when we looked at the past, we could see only the good…. that would be wonderful!
I’m with you there! Cheers Jelli.
A poignant story with an uplifting end.
Thanks so much Jilly
Your words flow beautifully in this write, Keith.
I love the way it ended positively. Great take on the prompt.
Isadora 😎
Thanks for your generous words, Isadora.
You’re most welcome … have a wonderful weekend. 😎
i think old photos could bring the same effect. well done.
Absolutely. Thanks, plaridel
Hi Keith – glad all is ok and good to see you back. Just heard some nostalgic thoughts by listeners about their parents – and the whys and wherefores … so much we don’t understand – yet the memories are there … cheers Hilary
Thanks so much, Hilary, good to be back on track.
The story drew me in as I found myself wondering what had happened to her, nicely done
I wonder. Thanks so much Michael
I was comparing both images, trying to fit them both to your words. The Shack Mirror does fit as well. Glad all is ok now.
That’s alright then! Cheers
Good stuff, a really poetic piece
Thanks for dropping by.
Beautifully poetic. Nicely done.
Thanks so much.
A mirror of happiness – nice one.
Perfectly put! Thank you.
I liked this. I want this mirror too – that shows happy memories!
We could all do with one of those! Thanks for visiting Anusha
Sometimes It pays to pay a bit more attention. If she would have kept letting her guard down, misunderstandings could have set in
It’s too easy to get swept away by waves of negativity. Thanks, Larry.
Quite a thought-provoking piece – we do tend to dwell on the negatives from our past.
Now and again we need reminding of the positive things that helped shape our lives. Thanks so much.
If her brain is like mine then looking before might not have done any good. I call it hide and seek memory. Stuff I try to remember flickers around the edges while stuff I didn’t intend to think about springs up full blown.
Welcome back!
I can relate to that! Hide and seek memory – I like it! Thanks, Alice.
Keith, a great effort. I wish I could find a mirror that took me back in time instead of forwards. On a personal note, I sometimes look in the mirror and see my great grandmother a woman I barely met, looking back at me. I look quite a lot like her.
Best wishes,
Rowena
I like that – the next time I look in the mirror I’ll tell myself it’s my grandad! Thanks so much, Rowena.
You’re welcome, Keith. You need a few tricks up your sleeve when it comes to getting older. Denial is serving me very well.
Best wishes,
Rowena
Love this, Keith! Yes, how often we let bad memories overshadow all of the wonderful ones.
It happens too easily. Thanks Sascha
I really, really liked this, Keith. Simple but very profound. Sometimes we tend to dwell only on the negative and the bad/sad times. Great take on the prompt.
We all do I’m sure. Thanks for dropping by.
I like how you play on the little-considered aspect of the mirror–it’s reversal of the image presented to it. How nice to interpret that as a reversal of fortunes, or at the very least, of mood, from sad to happy.
I’m pleased that came through – I wasn’t sure it would! Cheers.
Wonderful story!
Thanks so much
Good one !
Thanks so much.
Nicely told and so true, can you trust the person in the mirror.
I’d like to think so. Thanks, James.
oh! ^,^ I love this, it’s a great take on the prompt, maybe I’ll try looking in my mirror ^,^
It’s worth a look now and again! Cheers.
What an usual and positive take on the prompt. Reflections can indeed bring about a lot of clarity.
They certainly can. Thanks so much Sonia
Lovely poem. And so true.
Thanks so much Deborah
Nice take!
Cheers Dawn.
If only. A great piece of reflection!
Thanks so much Laurie
Great story! Short phrases but powerful!
Not my usual style, I’m pleased it worked! Thanks so much.
It ended on a positive note and I liked that. Uplifting story, Keith.
I like positive endings too! Thanks so much, Piyali.
I think this one is deeply touching… if only we can see in times all the good things… bitterness can wear us down.
It can indeed. Thanks so much Bjorn
