The door flew open and in he hopped.

‘Hi, I’m Cassidy. I’ve lost a leg. I had too many at the pub last night and got legless, literally’

‘Let’s see’ said Lost-Property-Man scrolling down his computer screen.

‘Pro…pros…prosthetics.  I’ve got an arm, an ear, a glass eye.. ah, a left leg!’

‘Mines a right leg’

‘No sorry. I’ve got some unclaimed crutches; how about this monocycle?’

Cassidy wasn’t amused.

Realising he’d put his foot in it, Lost-Property-Man apologised and promised to contact him if it turned up.

Anyway, if you come across it, leave a comment below and I’ll let Cassidy know. Thanks.

Humorous take. Prosthetic limbs seem to bring out the best in people

Sorry, no sign of it here. I did enjoy laughing at the story though 🙂

I’ll get a leg up on it and look around. Fun take.

Hi Keith – obviously Cassidy ran far too fast leaving his leg behind … it’s probably in the rubbish bin nearby … someone needs to help him hop there to check it out … take care and carry on enjoying the warm weather – cheers Hilary

        Rosey could rummage! Cheers H

Looks like he just walked right out of it.

I like the running gag, Keith. I’ve nothing against Cassidy’s left leg, either; the trouble is, neither has he! (apologies to the great Peter Cook and Dudley Moore!)

‘One leg too few’ if my memory serves me correctly! Thanks Penny.

Oh dear. I thought it was a stick but when i put my glasses on, I can now see it’s the reminder of a wooden foot. UNfortunately, Rosie thought it was a chew toy and it’s no use to anyone now. Indeed, there’s barely enough for her to retrieve.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena
PS Rosie is a Border Collie x Kelpie who is a fetch and chewaholic. She even expects me to throw fragments of stics. Fragments of foot, prosthetic or otherwise, I have no interest in.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

Oh dear! So if Rosie found it, it will no loger be of any use! She certainly sounds a bit of a chew-a-holic!

Can’t have gotten too far without someone to direct it…

  9. James's avatar James July 4, 2018 / 19:38

He has enough parts to almost build a new guy.

  10. Björn Rudberg (brudberg)'s avatar Björn Rudberg (brudberg) July 4, 2018 / 20:52

I think without his prosthetic leg he will just walk in circles… like coming back the next day.

Check you pockets Cassidy, there is the pawn shop ticket you got when you had to pawn your leg for another pint.

Now that’s a brilliant idea! I’ll mention it to him! Cheers Bjorn

very light and could feel both characters (and side note – yes, I have a right leg – and in my fiction you will see how it came about…)

It was a hilarious take on the prompt. I like it. Any update on the missing leg?

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings July 5, 2018 / 13:26

Heelarious even! No, no information has been forthcoming just yet.

  15. rochellewisoff's avatar rochellewisoff July 5, 2018 / 13:06

    Dear Keith,

Such a deal. I haven’t seen his leg around here, but surely it couldn’t have just walked away. I guess Cassidy will just have to hop along. 😉 You certainly have a runaway story here. Lots of fun.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

Oh oh … Fun take! By the way, they actually DO find all manner of odd things on the NY Subway. Had a story on it on the news not too long ago, and prosthetics were one of the odder ones, because one wonders, how DOES one forget a prosthetic on the subway!? (false teeth apparently are a common lost item! Go figure!)

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings July 6, 2018 / 16:43

Forgetting a prosthetic is hardly like losing a glove! One wonders how, but it happens apparently. Delighted you enjoyed it Na’ama

It must have been catching! Paul is looking for his leg too- that left one must be his!

  24. James McEwan's avatar James McEwan July 7, 2018 / 07:44

A punny one this. I have great faith in lost property – it is amazing what people hand in. I found an expensive watch at a bus stop and took it to the police lost property office. They insisted on having my name and address – because if no one claims it; wouldn’t I want such a lovely watch! I just thought if I really wanted it, would I have taken to the lost property?

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings July 7, 2018 / 09:49

I often wonder what I would actually do if I found a large amount of money – heart or concience? BTW did you get the watch?

      • James McEwan's avatar James McEwan July 7, 2018 / 10:21

The watch – no I told them not to bother contacting me if it remained unclaimed. Although it appeared expensive, it was not something I would wear. Thanks for asking.

  25. Kelley Farrell's avatar Kelley Farrell July 7, 2018 / 12:12

Ha, this is a nice take on the prompt. We’ve got a lot of lost legs this week.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings July 7, 2018 / 13:01

Nearly enough to make a human centipede! Cheers Kelley

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings July 8, 2018 / 22:39

  31. gahlearner's avatar gahlearner July 9, 2018 / 22:15

He should have taken the right leg. Could have had a lot of fun with it, I’m sure. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings July 13, 2018 / 10:10

Problem is he would end up walking in circles! Cheers
