When I am old

Does it mean I’ll be wise?

How far will I see

With my tired old eyes?

If I become frail

And a little bit ill

I’ll need to know

What’s over the hill

To see what’s beyond

I’ll climb to the peak

At least, that’s the plan

If my legs aren’t too weak.

Once I’m there

I’ll look back on my life

Good times and sadness

Happiness, strife

So if I am wise

And if I can see

And need no assistance

When having a pee

I’ll be happy old chappy!

I can’t resist adding one of my favourite songs of all time, Old and Wise by the Alan Parsons Project.

Something different from yourself and from the rest of the entries this week Keith, and all the more enjoyable for it 🙂

Hi Keith – well done … and I’m trying to think of a verse about standing down wind as you go about your busyness! Cheers Hilary

I wonder what Sigmund Freud would have made of it! Cheers WWM

Lovely verse, if those hills get to hard, I reckon i’ll get an electric bike, preferably with fat tyre,

Older i will certainly get if i am blessed to continue living. Wiser depends on me. As for being able to take myself to the facilities, i hope for that to the very end!

Keith, would you mind if I share this poem as a ‘reblog’ at some point?
