Friday Fictioneers

Whilst wandering through the woods she came upon a wizened little man slumped on a stump beside a muddy stream, a sorrowful shroud of loneliness draped across his sagging shoulders. Sensing his pain, she knew her charge was to offer solace. She reached into her bag and flung a shower of twinkling silver stars into the air. As they settled all around him he smiled and as he did, the sky cast off its cloak of cloud and bathed him in sunlight. He stood, smiled, climbed the steps and was gone. What troubled him she’ll never know, nor need she. She loved being an angel.

That’s lovely of you, thanks so much. A-Z did keep me a bit busy last month, so it’s great to be back to normal again.

You’d think being an angel, she’d know. Oh, in spite of the popularity of female angels, all angels in the Bible are either mistaken for men or God. Not sure what the Almighty had in mind when He created them.

She doesn’t like to be nosey! Hopefully it’ll be a while before I get the low down on angels! Cheers James

Well done, Keith. This was a beautiful piece of writing. I loved it.
Well done on getting through the A-Z. I’ll pop by and catch up on Rosey during the week. It was very hard to keep up with the reading while still researching and writing everyday, but that intensity has paid off with a solid body of work at the end. It’s totaly beyond the scope of the challenge, but that’s fine too. Now, I need to refine it.
    Best wishes,
    Rowena

Fortunately my friend Rosey didn’t need a lot of research so the challenge was not too difficult for me! I had constant requests to put my tales in a book so that may well be my next project. I’m delighted that you liked my story. Thanks Rowena.

Nice story, Keith. What a delightful way of accounting for those moments in life when we feel an unreasonable optimism. An angel did it! Lovely!

How beautiful, Keith. To offer solace we need not know the cause just the effect the emotions are having. Great story. Glad you are back – and back with a bang you are!

This is beautiful. I didn’t expect the angel in the end, I was so busy reading and rereading because …words. Slumped on a stump, a sorrowful shrowd, sagging shoulders, cloak of cloud… wonderful.

Such a positive little tale and so moody. I really liked ‘sorrowful shroud of loneliness’ which gives a great sense of what he’s feeling.
