,
I always found my daughter’s doll creepy. One day it mysteriously lost its head, how why and where I cannot imagine!
There’s a shop in town that sells new ones so I decided to head there. It was weird, like facing an audience. Some were smiling, some not. They were all attempting to grab my attention – I swear, one even winked at me!
I chose one, took it home and attempted to attach it but unfortunately, clumsy me damaged it.
“It just needs some plastic surgery”, I said.
My wife would have frowned if she hadn’t just had some herself!

Lol… this is so good, Keith.
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome
Off with its head! 🤭
Exactly what I thought!
I’m wondering what he did to his wife’s head
Whoops, I seem to have inadvertantly suggested it was his wife’s head! I’ve altered the last sentence accordingly.
“so I decided to head there.” I saw what you did. Absolutely chilling last line.
Thanks, James. As I said above to Neil, the original final few words gave the wrong impression so I’ve changed them accordingly!
Sounds like the surgery was successful. Your wife’s I mean.
Overly so I imagine! Thanks, Sandra.
A very creepy photo.
It certainly is!
😱
I remember a time when we moved houses just prior to Halloween and our next door neighbours invited us over. There were all these old fashioned ugly dolls lined up on a bureau in the living room. I enthusiastically uttered, “ Oh, you’ve decorated for Halloween, nice job”. I was met with no response. Later, outside my wife said “ you idiot, that was her prized doll collection”…….and than there’s the cabbage patch dolls……… another fun story, Keith.
Whoopsie! An easy mistake to make, Len!
they terrify me! always have
I’m not keen on them myself!
You can go to the head of the class with that story!
Groan! Thanks though, Nancy!
Humurous. I like the play on words.
Thank you, I had fun writing it!
Nice dig at the wife, Keith. He should watch out; he may get his own block knocked off! I am guilty at laughing at your story.
You are forgiven – and thanked, Lisa!
🙂
typo. guilty OF laughing
I do enjoy your storytelling and your sense of humor. Dolls can be rather creepy, too.
Thanks so much, Mimi. They sure can!
Oh dear… might not be the choicest of words. But you almost always make us laugh!
I try my best! Thanks for laughing along, Dale.
You succeed! It is always a pleasure.
opps, i suppose he headed in he wrong direction.
Dear Keith,
You have a knack for word play which is always so much fun. I admit the photo is creepy and I knew where most would go when I posted it. He he. I figured there’d be plenty of head games.
Shalom,
Rochelle
…and you were right! Thanks so much for your kind words, Rochelle.
Lovely story
Nice of you to say so, thank you so much.
You are welcome
I’m surprised your wife frowned since she had so much plastic surgery. Maybe, just maybe, she should ask for her money back
…and her wrinkles too! Cheers, James.
great tale Keith – I can see why the wife was a little miffed 😅
Thanks, Ange. It wasn’t the wisest thing to say given the circumstances!
Part fun and part pretty scary, I would say! Good one, Keith.
Thanks Chris, I tried to tip the balance more in the fun direction!
Ha Ha I think girls tend to detach the heads of dolls they dislike.
Fun write, Keith.
Yes… I enjoyed reading very much. Thank you for sharing. Greetings by Heidrun
This was quite an impressive origin story for the Queen of Hearts. “Off with her head!” I hope she wasn’t the reason for Mummy’s plastic surgery.
