100 words!

I wanted some sound effects to play whilst reading my hornet poem. I found a vinyl recording, but the buzzing noise didn’t sound right. Hornets mainly hum. When I took it back to the shop, the guy said I’d played the bee side.

I still didn’t like the way it sounded so I swapped it for a record by Sting.

I’m sure you’re dying to hear my composition, so here goes….

Hmmmm

What in the world is a hornet for?

It doesn’t contribute a thing.

All that it does is annoy me,

and bloody well hurts when it stings!

Hmmmm

Oh, well done, Keith. I bee-lieve you knocked this one out of the park. And, your puns were not too shab-bee either.

In Canada hornets are called yellow jacketed wasps. I am allergic to them, I have been stung and received a very strong reaction, so in the Summer I have a fly swatter in both the back yard and front yard, and go wasp hunting whenever I see them about. All of this is to say I can relate to your poem. Ouch.

😅I love this Keith made me laugh – it brought to mind that old Arthur Askeys song too
‘Oh, what a glorious thing to be,
    A healthy, grown-up, busy-busy bee!’ 🐝
