We were playing Scrabble and Bart added a word I’d never heard of.  I looked for it in the Cambridge English Dictionary but it didn’t exist, however he assured me it was acceptably cromulent. It only scored an unlucky thirteen so I wasn’t too concerned!

.

*By the way, cromulent, a word from The Simpsons TV show has recently been added to the Oxford English Dictionary, but it’s still not the Cambridge one!

I love Scrabble, but have no partners to play it with…not very good for solitaire!

I don’t suppose there’s a virtual Scrabble game to play with distant other Scrabble fans…that is free–do you know?

I loved playing scrabble with my mother-in-law. One day I put down the word ‘coven’. She challenged me and got out her old dictionary from the 1930’s. Sure enough, coven wasn’t in there. Imagine trying to play scrabble in 2025 with that dictionary!

Dictionaries must have been much thinner back then!

Haven’t played scrabble for years. The last time we played was with a friend and he accused us of cheating, finally throwing a paddy because he lost. He was in his 70s!

Heeheehee! Yep, people make up words now and they get in the dictionary at some point. Fun story.
