We were playing Scrabble and Bart added a word I’d never heard of. I looked for it in the Cambridge English Dictionary but it didn’t exist, however he assured me it was acceptably cromulent. It only scored an unlucky thirteen so I wasn’t too concerned!
.
.
*By the way, cromulent, a word from The Simpsons TV show has recently been added to the Oxford English Dictionary, but it’s still not the Cambridge one!

I love Scrabble, but have no partners to play it with…not very good for solitaire!
Snap! Me too!
Hahahahaha…see what I mean? Your comments and friendly face make me laugh…’course it is 5 am, haven’t been to bed yet, so maybe I’ve just got the sillies! Hope you have a wonderful day!
I don’t suppose there’s a virtual Scrabble game to play with distant other Scrabble fans…that is free–do you know?
I believe you can play online.
But what about the partner connection…maybe I should just google it!!🙄
I loved playing scrabble with my mother-in-law. One day I put down the word ‘coven’. She challenged me and got out her old dictionary from the 1930’s. Sure enough, coven wasn’t in there. Imagine trying to play scrabble in 2025 with that dictionary!
Dictionaries must have been much thinner back then!
Haven’t played scrabble for years. The last time we played was with a friend and he accused us of cheating, finally throwing a paddy because he lost. He was in his 70s!
We don’t like losing!
Must be a man thing!!
Scrabble is my fav game. Good on Bart!!
It has to be one of the world’s top games!
I love Scrabble. Excellent way to use a difficult word like cromulent!
It deserves a higher score!
Yay, Scrabble! Almost every Saturday for us two.
I bet you are good at it!
Pretty good😉
Clever use of the word.
Thanks, Sadje.
You’re welcome my friend
wow!
Thanks, Beth!
Thanks for that info Keith – I hadn’t heard the word before 😅
I had to Google it, Ange!
Yes so did I!
Well done! I need to watch The Simpsons more often!
Thanks, Nancy, I have to admit I’ve never watched a single episode!
Heeheehee! Yep, people make up words now and they get in the dictionary at some point. Fun story.
Every word must have been invented by somebody1
I love when shows bring in new words and cromulent was new for me
Me too – odd one, isn’t it? !!
yes!
