From a very young age, Albert loved fireworks. He’d use any excuse to set some off! He even founded the town’s bonfire society, and every November the fifth, folk come from near and far to enjoy its amazing event.
Each year on his birthday, his family lays on a spectacular display at the bottom of his garden. This year it was an extra special birthday, and his son Tom had a firework made specifically to mark the occasion.
He lit the touchpaper and it shot into the air, then exploded into a riot of colour sending Albert’s ashes flying in every direction!

Surprising ending Keith. I did not see that one coming.

Yes, you did! Most excellent!
I suppose that’s one way to give him a send off but I’d hate to think of where some of his ashes ended up.
We’ll never know! Cheers, James.

Beautiful ending, Keith. Was not expecting it.
I imagine Albert didn’t either! Thanks, Will.
nice send off…but i’m also wondering if its a good idea for the ashes to be scattered this way in the air….
Thanks Nandini. It’s actually quite a common practice here, wise or not!
Keith, this little story manages to be cheeky and touching all at once. I love how it celebrates Albert’s spirit—literally and figuratively—with one final burst of joy!
Much love,
David
I’m pleased it came across that way, thanks so much, David

A perfect send off for Albert. Pity he didnt get to see it, or perhaps he did!
I wonder! Thanks, Dahlia.
Perhaps fitting, but I’m glad I don’t live nearby. Somehow. the thought of bits of Albert drifting down on me as I’m taking a walk…
Albits here, Albits there….! Cheers Christine.
