A short story

.

For Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt.

.

*As I’m a little streched for time right now, I decided to reuse a piece I wrote seven years ago rather than miss out this week!

.

As Little Maisie passed a weeping willow tree, she heard the sound of sobbing. ‘Who’s there?’ she asked.

A fairy child fluttered into Maisie’s palm. She wiped the tears from its cheeks with the tip of her little finger.

‘I’m lost’, it spluttered, ‘it’s getting dark’.

‘Don’t cry’, said Maisie, ‘I’ll help you’. She carried the little fairy to a secret place known only to believers.

The Fairy Godmother showered Maisie with fairydust and promised there’d forever be a fairy watching over her.

Should you ever see Maisie glance over her shoulder and smile, you’ll know there’s a fairy following her.

Love the idea of protective fairies. In a bit of synchronicity I just commented the same thing on Linda’s story.

So do I, Lisa! Linda’s story and mine do seem to have quite a bit in common!

      Thanks for the inspirational picture.

You’re welcome and the pic does have a fairie spirit about it. The whole glow garden they had was fantastic!

How wonderful for Maisie. Would it not be lovely to have their protection?

Best way to live, I say.

Maisie has discovered a form of a guardian fairy (angel).

    Keep smiling Maisie.

It seems she has – and I’m sure she will! Thanks, James.

Aw, what a sweet story. And the fairy looks like a little frog, who knew. I love this and there’s nothing wrong with reposting old gems.

I remember this one! Perhaps, without my realizing it, your old story was a muse for my own this week 🙂

    Dear Keith,

An enchanting story that bears repeating. You and Granonine seemed to have had the same muse this week. I enjoyed.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle
