For Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers photo prompt.

He often sits on the pavement near the bar, strumming his battered guitar and singing. He’s not bad actually. Some passers-by stop to listen then drop a coin or two in his upturned cap.
Later, he’ll sling his guitar over his shoulder and head to a cafe for a warm drink and a bite to eat.
On the way, he’ll drop by a charity shop and give them the money he’s collected. He’ll forever be grateful to the organisation that runs it. Many years ago it came to his rescue when he was homeless and sleeping rough on the streets.

That’s so heartwarming. Good that he didn’t forget the ones who stood by him when he needed then the most. Lovely take on the prompt, Keith.
Thanks, Shweta, I’d like to think that most do.
I’ve been sitting on this story for a while waiting for an appropriate prompt!
Ohhh it’s great that you found the prompt you were looking for. Wonderful tale, Keith.
Beautiful! Love the his giving heart. Well done, Keith!
Thank you so much, Suzette.
I love this! One of the greatest gifts we can give to our fellow man/woman is help whatever that is, food, clothing, a listening ear. I looked up the organization in your photo. I love their mission to basically step in and give what’s needed in a person’s current state. Your little story is a great tribute.
They are based in my town and warm up the homeless in several other seaside towns along my part of the coast. Thank you for taking an interest, and for your kind words about my story.
That’s “Thanksgiving” everyday.
Great work!
Exactly what I thought! Thanks, Anita.
Homelessness in the richest countries of the world is a scandal and a matter of shame
I couldn’t agree more, Neil.
What a lovely post Keith.
Thanks so much, Di.
You’re most welcome.
As we learn, there are many reasons for being homeless. We can only be grateful, someone cares to help.
Indeed there are, for some it’s even a life choice. Thanks, James.
We have such a place here, all of the downtown churches help support it, and some of our members are volunteers.
That’s great, Mimi.
So kind
Indeed.
Very touching story Keith. Your MC has such a huge heart to remember and payback the place that took care of him. I love that you provided a link in your story as well; that organization is providing a great service for the homeless.
It’s very high-profile in my town – I can actually see it’s distribution centre from where I’m sitting right now – it’a always busy!
This is super! Such people are the need of the world. The shop looks great. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story.
My pleasure, Kritika. It’s a great shop, one of several similar ones in my neighbouring towns.
It would be a delight for the ones who need it the most. Thank you for sharing. I like the idea.
What a fuzzy, heart-warming tale. Like a piping hot mug of hot chocolate on a nippy autumn day, lending us that warm, cosy snuggle.
Loved it, Keith. This planet needs more humans like him.
Been a while, and it’s great to be back and reading you.
I love where my tale took you, Natasha!
It’s been a while indeed!
