Eighty two words…

for this week’s Weekend Writing Prompt!

.

“Now, the most anticipated item at today’s auction, a vintage Rolex watch dating back to 1929”.

As the auctioneer held the precious timepiece aloft, the would be purchasers shuffled in their seats.

“I’ll start the bidding at nineteen-hundred pounds, two thousand one-hundred down there, two thousand three-hundred, thank you madam…

…at four thousand nine-hundred pounds…”, he raised his gavel.

“Going… going… gone, sold to the gentleman over… oh!”

It really was gone as pieces of the shattered watch flew in every direction.

Great story as always, Keith. I like the unique idea of the auction as the setting. Perfect. Ah those older timepieces are priceless.
