Six!

Arthur was studying the puzzle page of his newspaper and trying to work out the answer to the word of the day, “it’s a single-pointed shape formed by rotating a right triangle 360° with the altitude as the axis”, he said, “and it’s four letters beginning with C, any ideas guys?”

His baffled mates came up with various suggestions from cane to chin and cosh to coil; “can’t” said Arthur, “as in I can’t imagine what it could be, let’s change the subject”.

”Connie from the confectioners was conned out of a considerable amount of cash” said Ted, “actually that’s not true, but I quite like a little alliteraton now and again, it clears the brain like an unblocked drain, as does rhyme some of the time”.

The horse chestnut tree’s in flower, there’ll be a good crop of conkers this year” said George, looking out of the window, “we should think about having a conkers match again, Bill won it last time and got crowned William the Conkerer!” – “OY” yelled Lanlord Len, “I banned conkers from my pub after I got a black last time”.

Colin had hardly said a word all session, he’d been studying the dessert menu and something he saw set him off – “ice cream makers learn their trade in sundae school”, he said, “Dracula’s favorite ice cream flavour’s Vein-illa, a deer’s favourite is cookie doe, no-one believed the ice cream cone, it was always waffling ….”, “a bit like you Colin!” laughed Babs!

“Got it!” yelled Suzie from the next table, “the answer to Arthur’s puzzle, it’s c-o-n-e, cone, those things you fill with ice cream” – “cone-gratulations” said Colin!

Thank you Keith for cone-necting the dots for us on this one. Good to know that Arthur got scoop and did not waffle!

Although I haven’t posted yet this week, your post was too good not to leave a comment. Loved this: ice cream makers learn their trade in sundae school. And William the Konkerer too!

I’m glad they found the answer, it would have made me batty, thinking about it. Thanks again for a fun and funny visit to your Baaamy Inn!”

With such diverse and obscure word play, perhaps, Cone-anne the Wonkerer?

You are without doubt the funniest man in England, assuming that Billy Connolly hasn’t deserted Scotland.
