I blame it on my shoes. I think I’m going to one place, then find myself in another.
I was drinking a pint in the pub yesterday when it suddenly dawned on me I’d intended going to the coffee bar.
I thought I’d pick up some groceries on the way home, but when I got here, my shopping bag contained some socks and a jumper. I don’t even need them.
Just now I fancied going for a stroll, but I couldn’t because one of my shoes was missing. It still is.
It’s probably gone for a walk on its own.

Of COURSE you meant to go to the coffee bar… honest mistake.
I knew you’d believe me!
Absolutely!
This is such a hilarious story of how a person can do something else when they were going to do something else.
It makes life interesting! Thanks, Sadje.
It does. You never know what you’re going to do
Charming and, of course, completely plausible
Of course! Thanks, Neil.
it got tired of waiting around for you, and took things into it’s own ‘feet’
You coud be right, Beth!
Dear Keith,
One must be very careful of one’s shoes. You never know when they’ll take off on their own. (likely story 😉 ) Love your story. Happy birthday.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Shoes do whatever they choose, even those you tend to lose!
Thanks so much Rochelle, where do the years go?
All that stuff we can blame on our age – nothing to do with choice at all. Ahem.
Too true, Liz!
Your shoes are conspiring to erase your memory and make you do things you don’t want!
I know, wicked things!
i suppose it happens to somebody who happens to have a lot to drink.
Blame it in the booze, why not?!!
This story is me walking into the kitchen and standing for a full 10 seconds wondering what the hell I’m doing there.
I am 44. I shouldn’t be this way.
I’ve been doing that for many a year!
Oh so relatable! The shoes choose. Yes, blame them… 😉
Exactly. Mine are wicked!
Hehehe!
So that is why I ended up at the coffee shop and the book shop. Loved the story
Now you know! Cheers Michael!
I love how you recreated the shoe from the one in the pic. I’ll have to remember that one next time I do something reckless (later today probably.) Blame it on the shoes! 🙂 Great story, Keith.
Thanks Lisa, yes, blame it on them, bless their soles!
You’re welcome 🙂
It was a shoe-in for the coffee shop in my mind, Keith. Great story as always.
It seems like it was! Cheers, Suzette!
LOL..perfect for the prompt.
That’s much appreciated, Dawn, thank you!
It is a blessing to be able to instill the vagaries of age with humor 🙂
Those shoes, dragging you away from your beer! Getting out of shopping and that walk you promised.
Life is so much easier now that bars serve coffee too. a fun piece that made me chuckle
Loved this, Keith. The story of my life, except someone else is often reprogramming my day. My kids do a pretty good job of it even though they’re now young adults, and knowing they’ll probably leave the nest…well, maybe sometime in the next decade…I should make the most of my time with them and I’m grateful to be friends with their friends. That’s what comes with 3.00am pick ups from the station and saving them an uber and being involved in their lives.
Hope you have a great week!
Best wishes,
Rowena
Entertaining story as always, Keith, and sounds like a familiar day to some of mine. I’ll remember to blame the shoes next time. Love the shoe and frog photo you created!
Best excuse for pub and unnecessary purchases ever. I wonder who helped that enchanted shoe on the way?
Haha those pesky shoes taking you all over the place. Great take on the prompt. Gave me a good laugh
The joy of a rambling mind!
