I really can’t stay.
But baby, it’s cold outside.
I only dropped in to use your toilet, I wasn’t stopping.
What’s your hurry?
It’s late, my mother will start to worry.
Baby, you’ll freeze out there, have a hot drink before you go.
The answer is no!
But baby it’s…
Why are you being so being so pushy?
I’m not.
Okay fine, one drink.
Forget it. Just go.
It’s up to my knees out there.
Go.
What if I got pneumonia and died?
Why would you?
‘cos baby, it’s cold outside.
All right then, let’s have a cuddle!
Happy Valentine’s Day!

Lol! Always contrary
Always!
😂
A romance of fire and ice!
Absolutely so, Iain!
Reverse psychology wins again. Convince someone you don’t want to stay and they’ll persuade you to.
It works in so many situations, as I know having been in sales for much of my life!
)))
That’ll do nicely!
Mary, Mary, quite contrary
Quite so!
Great adaptation with your own special flare, Keith. Happy Valentine’s day.
Thanks, Suzette, although most of the credit should go to the songwriter as almost every line was lifted from the lyrics!
That is the beauty of creativity, perfectly described…taking from a source (s) and crafting something new.
I’d choose the cuddle any day!
I agree!
I “almost” didn’t recognize any of the song… 😉
And why must some be so contrary! Happy Valentine’s Day, Keith!
As soon as I saw your picture, the song came to mind, even though I knew nothing of the lyrics but the title! In the end, I shamelessly stole one line after another when writing my silly little story!
Love it. And I’ve done something similar way back. Ya done good, I say! 😉
This is some Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd level strategy.
…now you come to mention it! Cheers, Liam.
I’ve heard some have banned the playing of that old classic because it sounds “coercive.”
That doesn’t surprise me, James!
As I read this, my radio is playing ‘Anything you can do I can do better’ – another oldie but goodie. Great story and song. Love how they switched sides here.
In the original song, they didn’t switch, but I thought I’d put my own twist on it!
No, you can’t yes, I can no, you can’t
Yes, I can no, you can’t yes, I can
Yes, I can!
That’s going to be earworming me all day no!
Thanks, Margaret.
I like your own twist on it.
Thanks, Dawn, at least I haven’t totally copied someone else’s work!
Great use of the song and prompt. I have heard lots of reasons to visit; but; I only dropped in to use the toilet. This must be the most unromantic line I have ever heard. She fell for it. Nice to see they both managed to make up in the end. I hope he flushed the toilet.
To leave the toilet seat up or down, that is the question! Cheers, James.
I never get it right. Cheers Keith.
what a great ending. made me feel warm and comfy. :)
Dino did have a few good songs, and this was one.
Fun take on the prompt, Keith. My first thought were
Bbrrr … too – when I first saw the photo. 😀
Thanks, Isadora, he did indeed. That sure is a chilly pic!
Dear Keith,
This just made me smile. Happy Valentine’s Day. <3
Shalom,
Rochelle
I hoped it might! Thanks so much, Rochelle.
I enjoyed all three versions,
I’m pleased to hear it, thanks, Michael!
Heeheehee! Good one.
That’ll do nicely! Thanks, Mimi.
Some people are just born to disagree!
In case it’s new to you, here’s my favourite cover of that song:
That’s very cute and in the spirit of Valentines Day. Lovely!
Keith this is a perfect Valentines Day story and you read it just right. Never picked up on it being the lyrics from that song until scrolling to the end. Perfect! Happy Belated Valentines Day to You<3
Now I have that song stuck in my head, thank you very much. 😀 Seriously, very cute and just right for Valentine’s day.
Thanks so much. Sorry about that, it’s been in my head for days too!
Also, sorry for the problem you had commenting. I found the first two in the spam folder. It happens a lot just lately so I check it first thing every morning. I just retained numero uno!
cute, I like the twist you put on the song.
Contrary, changeable, cool story!
lol I love the alteration!
