Comings and goings, going and comings.
When I got here and sat down on the harbour wall, warm sunbeams were shining down on me, then some clouds gathered in the sky and they were gone.
I saw a little shoal of tiny silver fish just now. They suddenly appeared, darted this way and that for a couple of minutes then swam away. I wonder where it is now.
Earlier on, a throbbing noise became louder and louder. A helicopter was heading my way! You should have heard the din it made when landing! A smartly-dressed chap carrying a brief case climbed out. A flashy car pulled up, the guy jumped in and off they drove into the distance. The helicopter took off again.
I watched the ferry float across from the island. A couple trucks and a few people disembarked then disappeared. I watched the ferry go back to the island.
A little poem about comings and goings appeared in my mind. But as fast as it came, it went! I should have written it down.
It seems like only yesterday we welcomed in a new year. Seemingly it was in a rush to get away, then who could blame it given everything that happened. It’ll be gone tommorrow only to be replaced by another one. I hope for its sake, and for ours that it has an easier passage.
Comings and goings, goings and comings. That’s life, isn’t it?
I’m heading off now, sorry if I rambled on a bit!

Well done response to the prompt and commentary on life. The last few days in Dec bring out the whimsy in all of us.

Keith, you capture the ebb and flow of life, emphasizing the constant comings and goings in a simple yet profound way. The snapshots of your observations, from the shoal of silver fish to the helicopter landing, create a vivid and engaging narrative. This piece resonates with the rhythm of life’s transitions. 🙂

Keith, your story’s refrain on the flow of time is deep! True time flies by; it is the moments lived that “count.”

Yes, life’s like that. And the longer one lives, the faster the comings and goings are – especially the goings. Well captured here, Keith.

Keying off Suzette and Margaret about how time flies. For me the more disturbing trend, in the coming and goings of the years, is the acceleration of their passing.
Surely, the ultimate irony for our now-distant youth, when we (some of us) were impatient to get older.
enjoyed your story
