...for Rochelle’s Friday Fictioneers (on a Wednesday) photo prompt!
.

.
Let me read it to you!
.
Young people today, hmph, just look at them.
In my days, girls would never have dressed in such a wanton manner. And as for that scruffy tyke, words fail me. Don’t they teach them to shave any more?
Look at them, swigging from cans of beer. Listen to the racket they’re making! Disgraceful.
Where are they going? What’s that noise? It’s getting louder and louder. Over there, in the square, it’s one of those guitar-strumming mobs that passes for a band these days.
What’s happening to me?
My feet are twitching.
I’m dancing!
I like it!
I’m having fun!
YEAH!

I have to remind myself of what kids did and how kids dressed when I was a kid.
Kids aint what they used to be!
“But the magic’s in the music and the music’s in me. Tra-la-la…”
Definitely a unique take on the prompt! I’d have guessed those are weary night-shift workers heading home. 😉
Beautifully sung Christine!
You could well be right.
Never too late for an old dog
That’s what I keep telling myself!
And so speak parents and grandparents down through the ages 🙂
Indeed they do! Thanks, Linda.
At last he too is having fun.
There’s life in the old fool yet! Cheers, Sadje
🙏🏼👍🏼🙏🏼
Sometimes you have to give something new a try.
Indeed you do!
Keith you always have creative ideas for your stories. I like how he went from being curmudgeon to party animal. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
That’s so nice of you Lisa! Better than going from a party animal to a curmudgeon!
LOL that’s the next day’s hangover 🙂
No time or age limit on fun
That’s what I tell myself!
Music does have a way of breaking down barriers. Nicely done, Keith. You kept up the suspense til the end!
It certainly does, Suzette! Thanks so much.
Therre’s no such thing as old when music gets involved! Nice one, Keith 🙂
It brings out the inner child! Thanks so much.
It certainly does! I’ve seen a video clip on Facebook of a bunch of guys in their 60s dancing like 13 year olds to a heavy metal song! Releasing the inner child!
Now that, I’d love to see!
Music is universal. Glad he’s dancing
It is! I dad-danced every night on my recent holiday!
🕺
I’m glad he’s given up curmudgeoning. No fun at all. Fun story.
Me too! Thanks, Margaret.
Haha – a fun story!
Thanks, Dahlia!
Can’t beat them, so join them. Fun story.
Absolutely! Cheers, James.
Well done. I like that he is having fun finally.
Let’s hope it continues! Thanks so much.
Never too old to enjoy music and dancing!
I quite agree, Patricia, and I don’t just mean the waltz!
Even now my feet twitch when the beat moves me!
They do that!
it must be the 60s and the 70s. those were the days. 🙂
Indeed they were, my friend!
“What’s the matter with kids today?” Every parent’s lament! Great story, Keith, with an unexpected fun ending.
It is, grandparents too as I should know! Thanks so much, Nancy.
Moved by the music.
I love it!
… physically and mentally too! Thanks, Dawn!
Dear Keith,
I recently opened a fortune cookie to find “As soon as you feel too old to do a thing, do it.” 😀 Love this little story. Keep on dancing.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Feet have a mind of their own!
Dancing is forbidden! No generation understands those before or after, but we’re more similar than different.
Oh those wild young rascals, making noise and carrying on when old curmudgeons
want to nap or have quiet. LOL I must say this reminded me of my hubby. He so dislikes
when kids or grandkids make unnecessary noise. Could it be a guy thing??? 😂
Fun tale, Keith
