She was a shy girl and it was her first job since leaving college, one of a small army of customer service agents, the ones that eventually answer the phone after you’ve been listening to canned music for ages.
The quiet one, never asked out for drinks after work, rarely privy to gossip, she just turned up did her job and went back to her little bedsit.
With Christmas around the corner, it was almost time for the firm’s annual party, the perfect opportunity for her to come out of her shell, draw attention to herself and pump up her image.
On her way home she passed a charity shop and there, in the window, was a mannequin dressed in a leopard print dress, sexy and short, with a plunging neckline and bare back, it was just what she needed!
.
Her colleagues couldn’t believe their eyes when she arrived at the party, and nor could one of the firm’s directors, a guy from the top floor who never mixed with the minions that manned the phones down below.
Little had he realised when donating the dress to charity it would become the bait that landed him a new person of interest.

Wow! This ending leads to a new story!
Well written Keith.
Who knows where this may lead?
Exactly!
Maybe we’ll see! Thanks, Sadje.
You’re most welcome
I’m wondering where he got that sexy dress. Ripped it off some other pumped up gal I suppose?
Are you glad the Six of Six Sixes is over? What would Seven of Something look like? I know it would sound great as usual. 🙂
I gave no thought as to where he acquired it! You may well be right.
I’m so pleased it’s over, serialised stories aren’t really my thing!
Like most I read replies on the sidebar. Do you ever have to return to the original post to see what you wrote that a reply was about. lol I have to do that even the next day. Memory goes first …. they say.
What a creep. I admit that was not a twist I saw coming.
Oh yes. Nor did I until a few days ago!
Hi Keith – this looks an interesting tale … so many directions the sixes could be taken … fun – cheers Hilary
Thanks Hilary. Indeed, I kept changing direction at the last minute!
Oh, boy, he’s at it again. I wonder if this woman’s path will cross that of the dress’ former owner.
That’s an interesting point! I wonder…
At least the first girl’s rid of him, but woe unto this one if she accepts his interest. It appears he only wants someone who looks sexy — and I dare say he’s not alone in that.
Exactly, Christine. Will she, won’t she? I haven’t a clue!
And it’s your call. Writers rule!
Would be interesting to see where this story could go.
I had intended to end it there, but even I’m wondering now!
It sounds like he has a new target. And there will be another tale. Nice series of stories.
It’s beginning to look like it! Thanks. Frank.
An interesting twist!
Very well done! I hope she watches her back, though.
He’s certainly watching it! Thanks, Mimi.
Oh what an ending…another web of intrigue…
…and ending without an ending! Thanks so much for sticking with it, Suzette.
A pleasure Keith! Thank You!
Ooohhh an interesting ending
I’m pleased you thought so, Maria, thank you.
You’re welcome. This was such a fun piece, Keith
“…the perfect opportunity for her to come out of her shell, draw attention to herself and pump up her image.”
Surely there is no single more destructive lie foisted on those who are different by those who need someone to bully than that false ambition *.
Damn! Sorry ’bout the rant, Keith
Excellent ending to a very enjoyable serial Six.
* false in the representation that her image is insufficient and worse, false in that it preys on a person’s insecurity
Rant all you like, you make some very valid points. Thank you most sincerely.
Don’t be so quick so swear off the “mini-series”, Keith. I’d say you have a knack for it. Quite enjoyed this. Made ever more so by your reading and backtracks. Writer and thespian are you!
That is so kind of you Denise, who knows, I might just have another go at it one day soon!
i popped over to see how the story ended! loved it! <3
Thanks so much, Ren!
A wonderful, fun read Keith! I have a feeling that little leopard dress will play a big role in her life!
Good or bad, it’s looking that way! Thanks, Nancy.
Oh, this was a different ending than I expected – it seems the girl from parts 1 – 5 was correct after all and remains safe, which is lovely – but the fellow is still in the narrative and being sinister. I liked this ending a lot.
It also reminds me of the Netflix psychological thriller show You.
