Day four of my camping trip
.

The Stourhead landscape garden was created 300 years ago by Henry Hoare 11. His vision was a living work of art with trees, temples and other architectural features around a grand lake.

From Stourhead, I started my journey home having experienced one of the most enjoyable camping trips ever!
En route I passed Stonehenge.

This is one of my pictures from Wordless Wednesday last June. If you missed them and you’re interested, they’re HERE!

What a beautiful place! It reminds of of Pride and Prejudice and an episode of the Hercule Poirot series starring Sir David Suchet. Also, Stonehenge!

Hi Keith – it looks amazing and you had a wonderful English day by the look of it. I also love the brooding Stonehenge … we are lucky to have so many places of wonder to behold. What good news the camping trip was a delight for you … lots of interesting places – I loved the Cheddar Gorge and cheeses: and one day must visit! Cheers Hilary

These are incredible, Keith! Absolutely stunning! This appears to be a very relaxing and meditative location. I love the building in photo #3. There’s something romantic about stone bridges, don’t you think?
If I’m not mistaken, our friend Mr. Bump lives quite near Stonehenge.

Stone bridges are indeed very special and that one’s a beauty! The temple you mentioned is probably the smallest and the one in the distance in picture 1 is the largest. I didn’t realise Mr B was a Stonehengian!

Lovely photos. I grew up a few blocks from Lake Erie which is the smallest of the Great Lakes between the US and Canada. Compared to the lakes in your photos it is big.

What a beautiful place. You love the outdoors like we do. We like to camp on our boat though. Not in a tent.
Thank you for hosting the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday and rest of the week, Keith. 🙂

Such a beautiful area and so tranquil. When we hear camping, we envision woods, bears, tents, nothing like this.

It looks lovely with the bridge and the follies. Surprisingly even though it is not too far (about 100 miles) I don’t think I have ever been there.

It’s the second time I’ve been there and it won’t be the last! It’s a National Trust favourite of mine.

The lake and its surroundings are very beautiful (I wouldn’t mind being there right now). I particularly like the bridge, and I find myself very curious about the temples. It seems like they are decorative architecture or art pieces, but do they also function in some way?

I can only assume the smaller ones were built for their architectural value, however, the large one at the far end of the lake is in use.
