Why would anyone want a dead moose’s head on their wall?

I’ve no i-deer!

I’m serious. Why?

It started when a poacher killed a moose’s deer friend.

Stop joking!

I’m not. The distraught creature sought revenge.

How?

By destroying the poacher’s hut. It lowered its head, charged towards it and … thump!

Then what?

Instead of the hut collapsing, the moose’s head shot straight through the wall.

And?

Well, the poacher thought it looked quite attractive and decided there were bucks to be made selling stuffed heads as ornaments.

You made that up, didn’t you?

Yes, but it was quite a-moosing!

Definitely ahead of the game in this one. Very amusing!!!

      • lifelessons's avatar lifelessons August 9, 2023 / 20:03

It was intentional.. I can’t help it, either.

    Cute story.
Chuck Daly’s Great Northern Bar and Grill in my town had an up north hunter’s theme. When the restaurant closed, they auctioned off all the stuffed animal heads that adorned the walls. A friend of mine had a B&B in northern Michigan and she purchased them. Since she was on a river and most of her guests were trout fishermen, I would have thought mounted fish would have been more fitting. Oh well.

I see what you mean. Perhaps she could have put stuffed fish in the animal’s mouths! As you say, oh well!

Only you would think of that idea. LOL

I can’t imagine having a dead animal hanging on my wall. But I do have my cat’s ashes in a box on a shelf in my living room. Maybe that’s pretty much the same thing.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 9, 2023 / 17:21

I prefer your way. Some people have their pets taxidermied, I’d find that a bit gross!

I wish that was the true story! 🙂

  8. Sadje's avatar Sadje August 9, 2023 / 17:02

It’s something I really abhor. Why hang a dead animal’s head on the wall?

        🥲🥲🥲

A wonderful Fractured Fairy Tale like they used to tell on Rocky & Bullwinkle. Nice one and very punny 🙂

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 10, 2023 / 17:10

Thanks, Lisa. I’d not heard of Rocky & Bullwinkle until it started popping up on various blogs over the past couple of days! Thank you, Google for enlightening me!

      • msjadeli's avatar msjadeli August 10, 2023 / 17:16

Fractured Fairy Tales was a frequent segment on the show. Always silly and good 🙂

I’ve never gotten the “head on the wall” decor myself, but many people enjoy it. My client Mr. BA, for one.

There’s a restaurant with a moose head which is famous, and if you dare, you are supposed to get a picture as you kiss the thing!

  11. Tannille's avatar Tannille August 10, 2023 / 05:25

And then they ate mousse and lived happily ever after?

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 10, 2023 / 17:20

Why didn’t I think of that? A tasty comment Tannille, thank you!

    Dear Keith,

I would be re-moose if I didn’t stop by and tell you what a fun story you’ve punned.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

I’ve never understood killing an animal and hanging its head on the wall. Quite gruesome. Good take on the prompt.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 11, 2023 / 11:27

      Nor me, Alicia!

      Thanks for providing the picture.

  15. granonine's avatar granonine August 10, 2023 / 18:15

Fun, Keith, as always. The practical side of me has always wondered about keeping those dead heads dust-free and bug-free. I would not want one anywhere in my house!

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 11, 2023 / 11:39

Thanks, Linda. I suddenly had an image of dusting it with a feather duster and it sneezing!

Oh those creepy moose heads protruding out of a wall.
I suppose that its to prove something but I’d prefer not
to be in its presence. You created quite a tale with this one, Keith.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 11, 2023 / 14:07

Thanks, Isadora. I certainly wouldn’t want one!

I’ve seen movies where they have a roomful of animal head. It sure isn’t cozy. 🤣 You’re welcome, Keith.

Why do stuffed animals never smile, I find the accusatory glare annoying when i drink my Theakston’s Old Peculier. Bloody stuffed pheasants.

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings August 11, 2023 / 11:53

I agree. I inherited a stuffed cockerel when I took over my pub, it wasn’t impressed when people drank Speckled Hen! As for stuffed pheasants, the only ones I like are roasted ones!
