You may (or may not) have noticed that I’ve been awol for a few days. Family commitments, of the most sociable kind, have taken over much of my time!
I prefer not to repeat stories I’ve previously used, but rather than miss out on this week’s Friday Fictioneers, I’m using a reworked piece that may (or may not) be familiar to you!
.

‘
“Knock-knock”.
“Who’s there?”
“Disguise”
“Disguise who?”
“Disguise in love with you!
John got home later than Lea. They went through their knock-knock routine every evening.
The following day.
“Knock-knock”.
“Who’s there and why the funny voice?” Lea giggled.
“Disguise”.
“Stop it, John, you are scaring me”.
Lea opened the door, just a little.
“I said I’d find you, Lea”.
“What the hell do you want Mike?”
“Stupid question Lea. I’m collecting what’s mine”.
Twenty minutes later.
“Knock-knock”.
Nothing.
“Knock-knock”.
“Lea, open the door, sweetheart”.
Still nothing.
John used his key to open the door.
Lea was nowhere to be seen.

Knock on the door to join in the fun!

Thanks to Dale for the picture and to Rochelle for hosting.

Good one, Keith. Going to have to share this one with my hubby. he likes to tell old “hokie” jokes first thing in the morning when I’m half asleep just to see if i hear him. LOL! Have a great week!
Haha, I hope he appreciates it! Thanks, Bear.
Dear Keith,
Nothing wrong with reruns. It is summer after all. I understand about family commitments. We’re coming up on a stretch of them, too. Ominous ending to your story.
Shalom,
Rochelle
I seem to have got away with it then! Thanks, Rochelle.
Creepy. Just creepy.
It even creeped me out! Cheers, Denise.
A scary story Keith
Delighted to have scared you Sadje – only kidding!
💙👍🏼💙
Nice one, Keith! The foreboding of events to come well camouflaged in the “knock knock” humor. I did see the ending coming!
Thanks, Suzette. Good that you saw it coming, a shame he didn’t!
I don’t recall reading this one before. And it’s a goodie
Thanks so much, Neil.
Funny and i’m a rerun fan
Me too, the muse deserves a break now and then!
No one’s laughing at that last ‘knock-knock’ joke…
Very true, Iain!
I’ve noticed ~ I hope you’re doing well, Keith! <3
~David
At least someone did! I’m tickety-boo and trust you are too, David!
Fun wordplay. I hope Leah is OK! Glad to hear you’re enjoying family time.
I’d like to think so.
I had a great time Lisa, reuniting with relations from across the world!
Oh dear! I’m not visualizing a happy ending at all 🙁
I wish I could say you’re wrong, Linda.
Skeery!
Just a bit!
I don’t remember this story before. It’s a good one! Summer is the perfect time to have joyful commitments. Enjoy!
I don’t feel so bad about reblogging it now! You are absolutely right, and I did, thanks, Alicia.
A good lesson, don’t open the door, call the police!
If only she had.
Poor John. He’ll be the #1 suspect. The spouse always is, right.
Great opening scene. Now write the book — when you have time. 😉
He could well be, but I’ll come to his defence! Me? A book? I’m probably the slowest writer in the blogosphere – a book would take forever!
Since you created him, you’d know best where he was. 🙂
It feels new to me and dang… things are more than amiss!
That’s putting it mildly! Thanks for the picture that allowed my tale to enjoy another outing!
Always a pleasure, kind sir!
Don’t play silly games. Great story, K.
Wise after the event! Thanks, Tannille.
A bit of mystery there, Keith.
I like nothing more than a bit of mystery! Thanks, Maria.
I didn’t expect the end. Great story
Chilling, Keith.
Hope you’re enjoying your away time!
It always feels a little odd when I push my blog aside for a few days, but this time it really was worth it! Cheers, Nancy.
Great, Keith! As much as we feel the drive to write and post every day, we all need a break from time to time. Enjoy this time!
Oooo…so very ominous!
Nothing like a bit of ominousity! Thanks, Dawn.
Certainly a Halloween story, or else in the genre of a Stephen King horror.
I guess it fits either bill! Thanks, James.
she must have thought the joke was getting old that she left in a hurry. 🙂
I wonder! Cheers, plaridel.
I love this one Keith – especially how it turns from a joke to a chilling tale 🙌
I’m pleased, thanks so much, Angela.
Nice work, Keith, from cheeky to chilling. Well done 🙂
That’s really kind of you, thanks so much.
My pleasure 🙂
Spooky.
It even gave me the creeps!
Aw, sad. And aw, good one Keith! You’re a tricky son of a gun.
