Yellowbelly Nelly led a mundane existence having missed out on so many adventuresome and exciting things enjoyed by others and it led her to think that yellowbelliness should no longer be belittled and was a condition deserving of recognition.

Nelly and her daredevil friend Kelly were in the pub one evening when she thought she’d carry out a survey to see how common a problem it was, and not having the nerve to do it herself she asked Kelly to find out how many of the other nine young ladies in the drinking establishment suffered similarly.

None of them did, which led Nelly to the conclusion that one in ten suffered from Yellowbelly Debilitation and as a result, she thought it might be a good idea to set up a support group for other young ladies that experienced compelling cowardice and to call it Yellowbelles.

It got off to a slow start, with many would-be members shying away due to their nervous disposition, but after a while, it built up a staggering membership totalling seven!

One of her plans for the future was an adventure park with a roller coaster that only climbed two feet, a slow roundabout where one sat on snails not flying horses and a non-ghost train where jolly people handed out sweets along the way.

The apparent success of Yellowbelles caught the attention of a local TV news channel and she was invited to the studio for an interview thereby providing it with some much-needed publicity, but unfortunately Nelly yellow-bellied out of it!

Sounds just like the woman who organized and was late to the first meeting of the Fear of Abandonment” club. The membership ended abruptly in zero. 😁

Nelly’s heart is in the right place, though. Courage can seem different to some.
The idea of sitting on snails takes a lot of thought! Good one, Keith.

Poor Nelly. At least the TV news channel would be understanding about it 😏
Fun tale, Keith, especially the no-knuckle rides!

I like your name “Yellowbelles” for the support group for people who are too afraid to go to a support group.

    “Hi, Nelly!

    lol
Somehow (I say with admiration) you have written a Slinky* Six!

You pull us in by taking care of the prompt word, right out of the gate and the rest of the fun is in following the story.
