Where am I?
There’s a nurse peering down at me, I’m on a bed, tubes and machines surround me and Annie is crying, why is Annie crying?
The nurse is shaking her head and a doctor’s looking at the clock, ‘time of….’

‘Hey, mate, you were miles away’ says Paul, nudging me.
‘Sorry’, I say, ‘I was daydreaming, hey look at the time I’m supposed to be meeting Annie’.
I rush into the street, I step off the kerb, I hear the booming horn of an approaching truck then the screeching of tyres…….

Years ago I woke in a hospital bed with white curtains around the bed. I thought I had died and wondered when I would find out where I ended up.
Oh my goodness, I can’t imagine how that must have felt.
Surprisingly, I wasn’t scared. Just curious.
I like how this story wraps around. The beginning follows the end and then we are back at the end again.
