Where am I?
There’s a nurse peering down at me, I’m on a bed, tubes and machines surround me and Annie is crying, why is Annie crying?
The nurse is shaking her head and a doctor’s looking at the clock, ‘time of….’
.
‘Hey, mate, you were miles away’ says Paul, nudging me.
‘Sorry’, I say, ‘I was daydreaming, hey look at the time I’m supposed to be meeting Annie’.
I rush into the street, I step off the kerb, I hear the booming horn of an approaching truck then the screeching of tyres…….

Still mentally applauding your Six, Keith. For the impact (I swear, unintentional pun, lol) so few word are capable of delivering, made all the more potent by your oral recitation of them.

Years ago I woke in a hospital bed with white curtains around the bed. I thought I had died and wondered when I would find out where I ended up.

I like how this story wraps around. The beginning follows the end and then we are back at the end again.
