A handful of words…

for The Sunday Muse.

I wish I’d learned to play the flute, he thought as he lugged his cello through the barrier, down the steps, along the platform and onto the underground train.

Or even the violin, he mused as traipsed along the street, across the road, around the corner and headed for the concert hall.

He envied the trumpeters, the clarinettists and the triangle pinger as he dragged it through the side door, along the corridor, and heaved it up onto the stage.

It was then he saw the double bass player mopping his brow, the harpist gasping for breath, and thought, it could be worse!

I wish her well, at least with the cello she gets to sit down! It is a magnificent instrument though.

Also, tell him next time to look more closely at the trumpeters and such and them lugging their music stand, bags with extra paraphernalia, and etc. I helped a trumpeter friend once get her things to the car after a concert and she had a whole lot more than just one small instrument in the case.

    Fun story!

Imagine if piano players had to take their personal pianos with them everywhere…
    Great story, Keith!

Wonderful story, like music to my eyes! At first glance, I thought the title of your story was “The Celtics” and I was smiling over the fact that you’re a fan of American basketball. Then I read it again after starting the story and realized by mistake! 🤓
All my grandkids play multiple instruments, including the cello. They play ice hockey, practice taekwondo and go camping. I have a pretty good idea what it’s like to schlep instruments and equipment around! I had the last laugh, though, because I play piano and pipe organ so my instruments are waiting for ME. I definitely have it easy. Bravo, maestro! A wonderful composition! 👏🏼👏🏼 🎶 💫

And what about the piano players! Good one. Older son played trumpet and younger son played violin, so not too bad for them. Wish they would have kept up with their playing.
