I was on the edge of my seat, inches from my television. I’d never watched a movie like it, I felt as if I was there, looking on.
A girl was sitting on a bed prodding her phone when suddenly the lights went out. She switched on the torch and a shadow appeared on her wall.
But not her shadow.
‘Look behind you’, I yelled as a vile creature crept up behind her. No…no…no…
No, suddenly my power went off!.
.
I was in darkness but for a trickle of moonlight. A shadow appeared on my wall.
But not my shadow…..

Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Dale for the picture.
Prod Froggie to see what others have come up with!

Let that be a lesson about watching scary movies
Never again!
Been nice knowing you, Keith. 😉
You won’t get rid of me that easily, Christine!
Still here? I thought that shadow had swallowed you whole. 😉
No more scary movies for you, Keith!
I learned my lesson, Linda!
🙂
Oh wow! So eerie
I got the creeps recording it!
I would be close to a heart attack.
I was all a-flutter!
Creepy!!
It was!
Life imitating art, but not in a way that you would want!
Thank goodness it’s fiction!
Love the cliff hanger ending. Whose shadow was it…I wonder. Great writing Keith.
We’ll never know, blame it on the 100-word limit!
👍😊
It was a dark and stormy night, three robbers sat in a cave…
Ooh-err!
Eek!!
I eeked too!
Imaginative and effectively spooky; like Suzette, I say “great writing”
That’s so kind of you, thanks so much.
No more scary movies for you. Don’t want you to have a heart attack.
I got freaked out by The Sound of Music!
The best horror and scary moments is when they become real; they don’t come with popcorn. So take care Kieth–now look behind you.
Your best, maybe! No way am I looking behind me!
Eek! Let’s hope it was just the pizza delivery guy.
That would be a relief!
No sleep to night then. The circle of terror can over so well
Most unlikely!
That made me shiver!
I still am and I wrote it yesterday!
Nooooooo! I just watched an episode of “The Haunting of Bly Manor”, I came to FF to change my mind… this did NOT help 😉
Oh dear, not good timing but it’s your fault for providing the photo! Love Bly Manor by the way!
Hahaha! Right! Blame me!
I am loving it. After having watched Midnight Mass and the Haunting of Hill House… I love how Mike Flanagna keeps his actors close… One played in Mass and here; a couple played in Mass and Hill House, etc. Fun stuff,
Dear Keith,
Ominous. Haunting. Suspenseful. Eeeeeeeeek!!!! (good job)
Shalom,
Rochelle
I couldn’t wish for a greater response, though I’m sorry I eeeeeeeeked you, Rochelle!
In my case the movie (or book) can cause sufficient angst without carrying over to my reality. Well done, Keith.
That’s the last thing you need when you’re already freaked! Thanks, Bill.
Who knows what lurks in the hearts of men?? Only the shadow knows! Bwahahaha!!!
Now you’re giving me the creeps!
Good! That was the catch phrase an old radio show called The Shadow … yes, I said RADIO so you can imagine it’s quite old. I guess it never made it to your neck of the woods. Spooky stuff!
sometimes one’s imagination can grow wild. time to light a candle and have coffee or tea. 🙂
That sounds like a sensible idea to me!
Creepy, much! 🙂
Don’t I know it!
Don’t look now…. he’s behind you! 🙂
You wicked person, you scared the life out of me!
🙂
Yikes! So who’s writing this…..?
I’ve not got a clue!
An excellent take on the prompt. Now I will be a shadow watcher.
Best to keep your whits about you!
Well-done, Keith. I loved those sound effects as you read. Gave it a chilling oomph.
Thanks, Lisa, had great fun adding them!
You’re welcome 🙂
Haha, love it! Especially those sound effects.
I’m pleased they had the desired effect! Thank you.
When the horror on the screen steps into your den, it’s time to scream and run! Yikes.
Too right, Dora!
What is it with these shadows going around turning off people’s power? Nice one. The music added a chilling layer to your recording. Well done.
They do that. Thanks so much.
Oh! So delightfully creepy!
Wooooo!
Well don’t look behind. Run!
Good idea, I’m off!!!!
I think this is why I don’t watch scary movies…
I’m not keen on them either!
Dang! Left hanging in suspense. I was expecting an evil muahaha next. Nice one
If I’d had a few more words to spare you might have got one!
