Nonsense …

for Six Sentence Stories where the given word is Branch

.

00

I was strolling through the park when I saw a tree moving across the grass and there was a blackbird sitting on a branch mooing like a cow.

It was a really hot afternoon, phew it was hot, it was snowing too, and not ordinary snow, it looked like whirling pink popcorn.

There was a big puddle to one side of me and the water was every colour of the rainbow and there, sitting on a stone in the middle was a little maidmer, she was like a mermaid, only the other way round,, a fish with gorgeous long silky legs and fourteen pretty painted toenails

A grotesque woman came gliding toward me carried along by a huge bunch of multicoloured balloons, you should have seen her, she looked like a cross between a pantomime dame and a witch.

I was about to ask her for a kiss when the blackbird swooped down from the branch and pierced the balloons with its beak, pop pop pop, then she went pop too and the barbaric blackbird that was now a purple bird grabbed her gaudy clothes in its claws, stuck its tongue out at me and flew up the moon.

Well, it was London, and it was the sixties, I will say no more.psychedelic

    What will we do there?
    We’ll get high
    What will we touch there?
    We’ll touch the sky

    It’s all too beautiful…

Very colorful story. The best line of the story was, “I will say no more.”
Wise words! I don’t think we could have taken any more.
Kidding! Always look forward to your creativeness. 🙂

Well expanded six sentences brimminng with “Ashbury Heights-esque” imagery, Keith. A psychedelic dream stream of consciousness!! Love the word “maidmer” 👍

Thanks for introducing me to a band I’d not previously heard of Suzette – I get the connection!

I’ve entered psychedelic space “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” territory, I will never be the same. I’m about to leave in my “Yellow Submarine” and go back to Carnaby Street to do my Hari Khrishner dance.

Haha, what have I started? I wonder what Carnaby Street’s like these days, I really must take a look – who knows, I might even see you dancing!

It does even in ordinary dreams! But it wouldn’t take much effort to make this into a children’s story, a la Green Eggs and Ham. 😉

I’ll stop smiling at some point after reading this story, Keith, but it won’t be anytime soon. Great six. Miss hearing you read though. Hope you’re feeling better.

    What psychedelics?! lol
(Too many quotes and references crowding my mind, like dandruff in a blacklight dorm room)

    very cool.

First thought was ee cummings then… (god help me) Jackson Pollock .
    but here’s the weird part:
we often talk about a story being engaging, this Six, (once you resist the urge to figure it out), is of a nature that ‘transporting’ is the best word. Sorta like when we saw the trailers (on TV) for ‘Yellow Submarine’.

‘wow’ and ‘oh wow’ were the most common critiques.

Very much enjoyed the commetators lyrics citations and once again am thankful that my tastes in music ran along the fringes. how much of life those limited to the am radio pop music missed out on.

Thank you for your thoughts on my piece of psychebabble. Yellow Submarine, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds and Saint-Saëns, Danse Macabre. were foremost in my mind as I wrote this mishy-mashy melee of imagined memories!
