A foo fotos!

For Wordless Wednesday and blog hops various!

I was thinking the other day about all the Roman ruins I’ve visited in recent years.  I’ve no idea why but it gave me an idea for this week’s Wordless!

Click pics to enlarge

Let’s start where it started, Rome!

Inside the Colosseum. It was crowded at the time but Photoshop helped me make it look as if I had the place to myself!

Next up, Volubilis in Morocco.

.

Now we’re off to Turkey starting in Phasellis

Then to Ephusis

.

Even the Romans need the toilet now and again!

.

Time now to head of to the lovely Greek island of Samos.

.

.

Close to home now, this is Pevensey castle 8 miles from me!

,

…and that concludes our bit of Roman roaming!

Add your link to join in the fun!

It’s incredible to think we walked along streets once trodden by Anthony and Cleopatra!

I pass my local Roman relic regularly and still find it hard to believe those walls were built 2000 years ago.

Wonderful places I would love to explore, especially Rome.

Rome should be near the top of everyone’s wish list, not just for the ruins, but for the Vatican and so much more besides. Thanks, Sandee.

Thanks so much. I didn’t realise how many until I compiled these pictures!

Beautiful photos. I have been to Rome several times and once to Ephesus. I have also seen those communal toilets and wonder if they sat there for a natter to pass the time!

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings May 4, 2022 / 15:40

They are a bit public, I guess they must have been! Thanks, Jackie.

Beautiful and impressive ruins! The Romans were truly master builders of their time.

The fact that so many are still standing after 2000 years is amazing.

When I was 15 I toured Rome and saw so many gorgeous ruins. Wonderful photos!

  13. Emille's avatar Emille May 5, 2022 / 03:51

You saw all the famous ruins! Photoshop can be a life saver! If Samos is the island closest to Athens, we have been there, but I can’t remember the views you posted. Maybe we spent our time at the beach, the restaurants, and the stores, haha:)

    • Keith's Ramblings's avatar Keith's Ramblings May 5, 2022 / 16:53

Samos is very small and not at all commercialised which is why I like it so much. The Roman ruins are in the town of Pythagorian, the birthplace of Pythagoras, and there’s only one flight in and out a week from the UK!

      • Emille's avatar Emille May 5, 2022 / 19:46

You went directly! We were in Athens, and Samos (if I remember it correctly) was one of our day trips.

I guess it is! It took me two days to get rid of them all, but I think it was worth it!

I have mixed feelings about certain types of photoshopping but in this case I’m happy you went through the work. Seeing the detail on the Colosseum was spectacular. I’ve never been to the Old World and enjoyed all your ruin photos. I would love to see those ruins one day in person. Alana ramblinwitham
