for Six Sentence Stories where the given word is Guide.
.
.
‘Let me be your guide’ says a distant voice, ‘for I can lead you to another place, a place far from the trials and tribulations of your troubled existence.
But first, you must brush from your mind the memories that taunt you, the demons that haunt you, bury them deep beneath the filthy soil on which you stand’.
I frantically scrape and dig with my bare hands until blood stains my fingers.
I beg for help.
‘No’ says the voice, ‘you have to overcome the pain if you are to move on, then once achieved I’ll be here to lighten your path’.
I finish, I follow, I smile, I’m renewed.

A wise guide to not help but have him work through on his own.
