for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt where the given word is Vellichor and the limit, just 48 words.
Today it seems I’ve swapped Halloween for Valentine’s Day, but fear not for I’ve also written a piece called Hallowe’en A Histoire which you can read HERE should you so wish!
.
.
Sagging shelves, dusty tomes. The vellichor, alluring.
There, a book I’ve yearned for.
I grab it. It resists. I pull. It pulls back then disappears.
Through the gap, I see two beauteous blue eyes.
We agree to share it, and so starts a new chapter in our lives.
.
A happy ending!

Thanks, Dale. I did toy with that as I was trying to stick to a ‘ween theme this week, but after much humming and haaa-ing I took the soppy route!

Hi Keith – I had no idea Vellichor meant a strange wistfulness for second-hand or more hands of old books in a happily groaning store … cheers Hilary

Nor did I, nor any of the online dictionaries I used trying to find it! Thank goodness for Google!

Delightful story, Keith. But of course it is. How do you hit the target so well every time?
