She was the breadwinner, not him. He loafed around all day doing nothing, unable even to make a sandwich for his lunch. 

Ask him to do something and he’d find a half-baked excuse for not doing it.

Once he tried making toast. It dropped to the floor landing butter-side down. That should have told him something but it didn’t.

One morning she walked away, determined to claim the slice of life that was rightfully hers, doubting he’d bother to brush away the crumbs of their stale relationship.

    I just watched a true crime story about a stay-at-home Dad who got his best friend to kill his wife while he was out of town with the kids – visiting her parents, no less. Some guys are not worth the air they breathe. At least the woman in your story is still alive.
