for Sammi’s Six Sentence Stories where the given word is Handle.
‘

.
“I can’t handle this much longer,” said Gertrude, “at my time of life I should be taking it easy not gallivanting around at his beck and call.
When he’s hungry, he insists on being fed straight away and if he wants a walk, a walk we have, and once outside he’s constantly looking for somewhere to pee, or worse!
If I don’t give him what he wants he either barks at me or begs, staring with those puppy dog eyes.
I’ve really had enough, I wish I could exchange him for something less demanding like a shih tzu or a cat even”.
“But Gertrude, I thought you loved your dog,” I said, “you’ve always seemed inseparable”.
“I’m not talking about my dog” she laughed, ”I’m talking about my bloody husband”.
.

Life doesn’t last long. When Gertrude’s husband dies she can get that cat.
He might mysteriously die sooner than he thinks the way he’s going on!
As always, a fun story.
Thanks so much, Sadje.
You’re welcome
I’ve had my morning chuckles now, Keith, lol
I’m really pleased to hear it, Denise. thank you!
Thanks for the humor!
The pleasure’s mine!
At least he doesn’t want to cock his leg! Fun Keith.
I certainly hope not! Cheers Di.
🙂
I was enjoying a pre-chuckle already seeing how well this described my own husband. LOL
Fun, yet somewhat tragic, don’t you think? 😀
I hope he doesn’t read what you’ve just written! Fun yes, tragic certainly!
He doesn’t read my blogs. Does that show fit better? 🤣
Love it, Keith (although you could easily be describing my overly-spoilt cat). 🙂
Thank goodness it’s your cat, I wondered where you were heading!
😁😂
Thank you. It made my morning.
Wow, I’m delighted! Your comment’s made my afternoon!
I knew where this was heading, right from the outset – but as per your usual, you weave such incredible word-fanciful flights, I was enthralled and laughing along right until the punch-line! Another hit, swing (odd how that’s always described this way, must be about the follow-through) and right out of the park Keith!
Thanks so much for your generous words, it makes it all worthwhile!
Yep, kids, husbands and dogs can be very demanding. Get a laid back cat trust me.
I bow to your superior knowledge, Mimi!
HaHa. Knowing how much one is able to give and one is able to take and what the outcome would be, those are the questions. I’m guessing, these two really do love each other in spite of their complaints and grumblings, but it is never too late for each to learn how to communicate a little better with each other.:-) Great SSS.
I’m sure they do Pat. They do say opposites attract and if they agreed on everything life would be very dull indeed! Thanks so much.
Big smile, keith, that was a fun Six. Love the word ‘gallivanting’ – reminds me of my mum when she used to say to my early-twenties self: “I suppose you’re off gallivanting all weekend again.”
It’s a great old word that deserves to come back into everyday English! Delighted you enjoyed it, thank you.
I was waiting for that final line! Ha!!
Well worked out Liz!
The breadcrumbs deliciously led the way.
Fun piece, Keith, but the deeper sadness is that too many folk prefer animals to other people…
Sad but true, but I guess for some people, an animal is the only being they have contact with. I’ve never been a pet person myself, though a little petty at times!
