One Winter’s day my friend Rosey was in the park with some kids enjoying a snowball fight.
Wig-wearing priest the Reverend Roger Cross, known to the kids of the choir as The Old Rug-head Cross, was passing by with his little dog, Pontius Poodle.
Unfortunately, one of Rosey’s missiles went astray hitting the Rev on the back of his head and tilting his toupee. Rosey scampered off and hid behind a tree!
The irate vicar spun round to face the children, adjusted his hairpiece and spluttered a profanity!
Then he gazed heaven-ward, whispered a few penitential words and tottered off.

Talking of ‘The Old Rug-head Cross’, I found this recording and thought I’d share it with you!
Great stuff Keith.
Thanks, Di.
How funny! Love the descriptions.
I’m pleased, thank you!
Oh, dear. Poor Rosey, always in it.
Thanks for the fun story!
Always! Cheers, Mimi.
Haha! Good one.
Thank you Sadje.
You’re welcome
That was brilliant, Keith. Great song too!
Thanks so much, Mason.
I laughed until I coughed on that one, Keith. You wrote that just right. Rosey does get up to her antics doesn’t she. I love the priest’s dog’s name and also how the priest toddled off.
Oh dear, hope you’ve recovered! I can always rely on Rosey! I’m really pleased you enjoyed it, Lisa.
Love the name of the Reverend, and I would suspect Rosey wasn’t sorry.
She certainly wasn’t! Thanks so much.
No worries
The poor Reverend. Great take, Keith
I know! Cheers, Shweta.
You’re welcome 😁
So funny, well described, great literary style!
That’s so kind of you Ain, thank you.
This made me smile, Rosey aim, made for a fine story
I’m pleased! Thanks so much, Michael.
I can almost guess which words.
Thanks for not revealing them Danny!
Old Rughead Cross … 🙂 That will keep me going for a day or two.
Delighted to have amused you, Sandra, thank you!
You made me laugh here, because there are a few reverends I would love to pelt with snowballs.
I can think of one in particular from my teen years! Cheers James.
This was so vividly described, I could see it like a movie. Rosie just has the ability to make me laugh and laugh… love the name of the poodle, too.
Thanks so much for your kind words. What would I do without Rosey?
She’s a true gem and a stroke of genius.
Dear Keith,
I love “Old Rugged Cross” and “Pontious Poodle.” Brilliantly funny. Rosey is something, isn’t she? 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle
Thanks, Rochelle. Rosey certainly is something, but quite what I’m not entirely sure!
what a ring around a rosey moment. well done. 🙂
I like that! Thanks plaridel.
Oh, that had me laughing out loud, Keith! The poodle’s name is great.
A true story. A clergyman in Plymouth had a cat; he named him Magnificat. Even better, they made the clergyman a bishop, whereupon he gave his cat a surname. He became Magnificat Episcopus.
Oh, that’s absolutely brilliant Penny! Delighted to have amused you.
Naughty Rosey! Love the dog’s name and this week’s frog graphic 🙂
I’m pleased! Thanks so much, Ali.
Love the pun in the nickname – I bet the kids were pleased with that one!
Indeed! Thanks so much.
‘The Old Rug-head Cross’ caused me to laugh out loud. I love the mischief that always follows Rosey. And talking of following, the Rev’s dog, Pontius Poodle. Sheer perfection!
That’s so kind of you Jenne, thanks so much.
You’ve caught the mischief and fun perfectly Keith/.
Thank you so much WWM!
Hahaha what a great little tale! Mischievous scamps and the grumpy priest. Lots of giggles in this one.
Delighted to have amused you Laurie!
Ha! Ha! Loved the names. Also the priest’s swearing and quick request for forgiveness.
I’m pleased! Thanks so much, subroto.
Rosey, Rosey, Rosey. She always provides a smile.
That’s Rosey! Cheers Tannille.
Naughty Rosey 🙂 always provokes a smile.
