‘Rosey’ whispered Helen, ‘it’s a secret but I must tell someone. Steve said Polly spoke to Charlie who said Jane’s pregnant!’
‘Mum’s the word!’ giggled Rosey.
She had to phone Amanda.
‘Helen said Steve’s got Jane … no, Polly preggers!’ spluttered Rosey.
‘Wow!’ yelled Amanda. She rushed to the pub.
Barmaid Brenda was pouring drinks.
‘Keep it to yourself, but ….. !’
It was so noisy, Brenda had difficulty hearing, but within minutes what she thought she heard was the buzz-of-the-bar!
In walked Rosey.
‘Chardonnay please!‘
‘You shouldn’t drink!’ shouted Linda.
‘How’s the morning sickness?’ chuckled Jimbo!
Everybody cheered!
Rosey’s face was a picture!

Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Roger Bultot for the photo.

Haha! Hilarious
Pleased you liked it Sadje!
You’re welcome 😉
Poor Rosey! The repeating of that tale definitely backfired.
Something she’s quite used to Christine!
Keith,
At this rate, they’ll never figure out it’s Jane . . . wait, or is it ….? Great story!
~🕊Dora
I’m confused and I wrote it! Cheers Dora.
That’ll teach Rosey – although I suspect she will never learn! 🙂
I fear not Iain!
Fun story and naughty lady drinking whilst pregnant.
It would have been if she really was!
This is true.
O rosey, I hope all will be well.
It usually is Michael!
Haha! So much truth to this, how the truth gets skewed as it runs through the grapevine
So often, it does! Cheers.
Ha ha. It’s amazing how a story changes when it goes through the rumor mill. Poor Rosey.
It happens a lot. Rosey’s quite used to things going wrong so she won’t be too concerned!
Such is the nature of gossip. Fun one.
Indeed it is! Thanks so much.
What a great take on the prompt, Keith. Thanks for the smile. And it’s good to see Rosey again.
Thanks, Jenne, she’s never far away!
I think rather inappropriately it may be called Chinese whispers, good stuff made me laugh
Mission accomplished! Thanks so much.
Lol! All too easy to imagine it happening. Good one!
It is, especially when Rosey’s around! Thank you.
Classic case of what goes around comes around — and quick in this story! Nice diversion for Jane 🙂
Uh-oh, gossip is a wildfire!
Indeed it is!
Another reason to remember that the best way to keep something secret is to keep it to yourself. If no one else knows, no one else can blab!
Very true, but try telling Rosey that! Cheers, Mimi.
Mahaha… So Rosey!
Oh yes!
“A secret is something that everyone tells everyone not to tell anyone.”
Poor Rosey.
Some people just don’t keep the privacy.
Here is my story- The Red T-Shirt
I like that saying, it’s so true! Thanks, Anita.
Dear Keith,
Gossip has a way of backfiring, doesn’t it? Delightful story. Pregnant with humor and truth. Your story delivers.
Shalom,
Rochelle
So often it does! Thanks for your fitting comment Rochelle!
Hilarious. I love Rosey and you write her so well. And I lost count of who said what in the first line, so can you blame Brenda?
So did I! I’m pleased you like my Rosey tales and I’m sure she is too!
🙂
Haha! Big smile for that story, Keith. A lovely turn-around from gossiper to gossiped-about. I don’t know how you cram so much detail into a mere 100 words!
Indeed she was! The first draft was over 200 words, so it was quite a challenge! Thanks, Penny.
Who did you say is pregnant?
I think it was…no, it was… oh, I haven’t a clue Elizabeth!
Chinese whispers indeed!
Absolutely! Cheers Neel.
Classic, Keith 🙂
Thanks so much, Linda!
it’s something about gossip. once it passes around, it gets out of control. 🙂
That’s so true plaridel. Cheers!
I can hardly believe it, Rosey’s usually so discreet and dependable 😉
Haha, you think? Cheers Ali.
What a great take on the prompt. Well done.
That’s really kind of you, thanks so much.
Great fun. Chinese Whispers cause all sorts of trouble, that’ll teach Rosey.
There’s no teaching Rosey I’m afraid! She never learns. Thanks so much, Michael.
Nice piece of situation comedy. Chinese Whispers was a fun game when we were children, much better than Chinese Burns.
Loved the story.
It was fun, I remember it well. I remember Chinese burns too, but not with the same affection!! Cheers James.
The perfect example of the telephone game. ha ha
So much for keeping secrets … Be safe
Isadora 😎
Exactly! Thanks so much, Isadora.
That’s how it happens (haha). I think the barmaid’s my favorite character though. I loved this one!
I think she owes Rosey a drink! Thanks, Brenda.
That was a funny twisting tale for sure! 🙂 Have a great week.
Thanks Bear, you too!
A most entertaining tale Keith – so recognisable !
Thanks for your lovely comment!
