A bowl of chicken noodle soup
number 24
then I ate a 68
I needed something more
Beef in black bean sauce it was
tender dark and nice
with a bowl of 146
special egg fried rice
I also had a seafood dish
number 47
Massive prawns with cashew nuts
I thought I’d gone to heaven!
Spare ribs and a bowl of duck
4 and 87
A tangle of chop suey
number 1–11
Then I felt a little full
and so I paid the waiter
Trouble is with Chinese food
You’re hungry two hours later!
So I bought a pizza!
.
Thanks to Rochelle for hosting and to Brenda Cox for the photo.

Love it!
I’m pleased thanks, Denise (I’m really poetic today!)
I love this, too!
Thank you, Martha!
a More-ish tale–loved it.
I’m the same with Chinese. Hungry after a couple of hours:)
Yep, every time! Cheers Arti.
You’d think the Chinese would have invented roast and yorkshires
I think we beat them to that one!
🙂 Could go a Chinese and pizza now…
Go for it, why not?!
I feel full reading this 😂
You’ll be starving in two hours time!
You are in rare form today, lol.
haha! That was a fun poem. I must say when you order Chinese by the number it’s usually in a Chinese takeaway and disgusting! No Chinese person would ever eat from a Chinese takeaway lol.
You do have to be a bit choosy! My use of numbers on a restaurant menu was what I believe they call poetic license!
I think your use of the numbers, was brilliant. I love this poem!
Isn’t that the truth.
Indeed! Cheers Sadje.
👍👍👍
Interesting… Being in Singapore, Chinese cuisine is something we come across in every nook and corner …. Pizza makes me skip a meal on the contrary …too heavy 🙂 my post was on food too

I’ve got 3 Chinese eateries, each a few steps from my door, and not a pizza place in sight! Not good enough! Thanks for dropping by.
An astonishing appetite! Froggie will be eating well, too, if he can handle all those spices. 🙂
They are all things frogs like to eat apparently, though not necessarily Chinese style! Cheers, Christine.
This took me back to my student days, and chicken dhansak, on the bone of course, with a nice large Naan bread. Instead I am on hospital rations, but they are not to bad…
That sounds perfect – the Indian that is! Sorry to hear you’re on hospital grub. Not for too long, I hope.
Dear Keith,
After all that I can’t imagine ever being hungry again. Nonetheless, you made me laugh. Your graphic is fabulous, too. 😀
Shalom,
Rochelle
There is quite a lot there! Thanks for laughing along with me Rochelle.
It’s a nice day out and it rhymes
Absolutely! Cheers, Larry.
A bit of nonsense and this nonsense made me hungry and for all of it.
Have a fabulous day, Keith. 🙂
I got very hungry writing it! Cheers, Sandee.
This is great, and so true about chinese food. It fills you up very quickly, but doesn’t last!!!
…but it’s lovely while it does last! Thanks, Di.
Love chinese food.
Now I’m hungry – your choice of food matches my tastes!
It seems to be making a lot of you hungry! You obviously have very good taste!
Excellent tale using the numbers for the menu items. My favorites are #17 (crab rangoon,) #34 (sweet and sour soup,) and #63 (egg foo yung with brown gravy.)
Haha! You clearly know your menu well! #63 sounds really yummy.
🙂 We used to live about a block from a really good Chinese restaurant and got a lot of take-out from them.
Temptation on your doorstep! Cheers Lisa.
That is such great fun. Both, the food and the poem.
I’m delighted you enjoyed it, thank you!
Love this poem and oh how true! You can absolutely gorge on Chinese food and still feel starved.
You can, but it still piles on the pounds!
This gave me a good laugh. It also reminded me of an old take off on “Mary had a little lamb”–a little pork, a little jam, a little egg, a little toast, some pickles and a great big roast. An ice cream soda topped with fizz, and oh, how sick our Mary is!
I’ve not heard that one before! I’m keeping a copy of it!
I have no idea where it originated. I’ve known it since I was a little kid. LOOOOooooong time ago 🙂
Heeheehee! That’s quite a selection, i hope the pizza topped it off nicely.
It always does! Cheers Mimi.
Chinese sounds good about now…
Sounds good any time to me! Cheers Tannille.
Cleverly constructed! 🙂
Thanks Sandra.
Well, that was fun! Grinning here. (And it’s true about Chinese food. ‘I can’t possibly eat any more!’ An hour later ‘I could eat a scabby )ug!’
Scabby dug! (Which, lest anyone thinks I’m referring disrespectfully to the contents of the menu, is a way of saying ‘really hungry’ up here!)
What you need, Keith, is a bento box with real food! (My relatives own a Bento place in Hawaii and if you walk away from there not satisfied there is something wrong with you!) I love the frog picture. Did you make that? Too cute, the whole story. Love it.
Another rib-tickler! The pizza was number 4 ‘cuz you won’t feel hungry any more.
Fun, and a surprise ending!
Very creative and funny! What is it about Chinese food where you’re hungry a short time later. I suppose it depends on the kind of Chinese food you have. =)
Very cute, Keith. Love it!
I’m pleased! Thanks Sascha.
Excellent journey through a Chinese menu, perhaps you should try larger portions next time.
I may just do that James!
I have to say this made me laugh
And then I laughed again
A chap with your vast appetite
Could eat a scabby-heidit wean!
I have to say your comment made ME laugh! Do you know, I think I could!
Fun! Chinese food is a bit like that. I hope froggie enjoys his sticky spare ribbets 🙂
No doubt he will! CheersAli.
You fat knacker! Great poem/ tale, loved it! Couldn’t have made it past about 40 words, let alone the pizza!
Fat knacker? I’ll take that as a compliment! Cheers!
Damn you Keith, why did I read this at midnight? I am going to raid the fridge now. Delicious story btw.
Haha! Sorry about that Subroto!
